I have a few buses to list. First I remembered when the 296 used to go to Harold Wood with a PVR of 9 with those K-888 reg olympians joined by the Palatine 2 in the 90s I remembered the 145 when it had those Dennis Lances on that route and boy did it used to fly on the a12. I also remembered how Leytonstone used to look like before they did the roadworks around the area to link the a12 to Bow I remembered the 171a (now present day 341) in Tottenham getting that to west green through Phillip Lane after getting off the 123 and using the 41 to Archway with the Mcw Metrobus. I remembered when the 253 was two overlapping routes in Hackney using the J-BSH olympians to get to Stamford Hill. I miss those days. Brings back memories this. We used to live on the Stamford Hill Estate growing up in the 80/90's and remember seeing opposite Stamford Hill Garage (Grey-Green Base) with the olympians and citybuses side by side. Before it fully closed my uncle used to take his son and I to Hampstead Heath before his shift started from the garage with an F reg Olympian. Those can shift. I didn't know Grey Green had Olympians at Stamford Hill. I certainly remember the Citybuses and Scanias (both the older East Lancs ones and the newer ones with Northern Counties bodywork). I know some of the ex-Kentish Bus Olympians ended up at DX on the 103 and 275.

I believe it did, I do remember seeing some B10M's in and out of the garage I think it operated out of SF when the Grey Green depot in Stamford Hill was demolished (now a Morrisons.) Yes, for about 6 months. The Grey Green base closed in March 1998 and Thorpes took over the 210 in September 1998.

I have one for the south west london folks. I remembered randomly with my family getting on the 74 from Hyde Park and taking it to Earls Court with those Northern Counties Palatine 2 buses. Those seats were so d*mn comfortable. Back those times the 74 used to go to Minstead Gardens before the 430 came out. The 14 I would take to Fulham when a friend of mine wanted to go to Stamford Bridge. (Boooo to Chelsea ππ) Nothing for us South London folks? Well since you kindly requested it ππ. I remembered in 2008 getting the 108 from Poplar to Lewisham and doing a full journey on the 21 to Newington Green. But I think the top 4 long end to end South London buses i've done is X26, 36, 188 and the 171 (Holborn days). The 36 I remembered sleeping on it once and I thought when I'd wake up I would be at Queen's Park. π I was at Paddington. The relief I got when I came off at the last stop. Funny times. I was on that particular bus for over two hours. Oh I almost forgot. One time I wanted to see how long it would take me to get from South London to my area in East London. So I took the 157 to Crystal Palace, then the 122 to Woolwich, then the 474 to East Ham and then the 5 for a few stops to my area.

absolutely- the Capital Citybus fleet was such a mixed bag of oddities like the ex Southampton Dominators on the 257 that still had adverts for Route 17 on the inside, the fantastic fleet of Olympians, the Metrobuses with Rolls-Royce engines even the Dennis Arrows were pretty good. I was lucky enough to spend a few years working for Capital Citybus in the late 90s, really was a brilliant company to work for. Funny enough it was by chance that I knew about the 275 as I remembered waiting ages for the 551 in Ilford (Long bus that came from Basildon) to take me to Walthamstow only for someone to walk by and tell me and my family to get the 123 to Hoe Street and get the 275 to Walthamstow town centre and my goodness that driver flew into the bus station within two minutes ππ with the volvo citybus Speaking of Volvos, I remember the Stagecoach-liveried B10Ms used on the 247 for a while, which were covering for new Dart SLFs being used somewhere else (possibly the 230.)

I remembered seeing one in all white with the stagecoach stripes in romford.

I remembered jumping on those Northern counties palatine scania buses on the 15B in poplar. Those buses were comfortable.
When I really think about it 1999 was the year loads of transport changes took place. From re-numbering P11 to 381, cutting the 199 from Elephant to Canada Water, to cutting the 276 to Newham General thus introducing the 376, to introducing the 472, to the DLR extension to Lewisham, to the 330 being cut back to Canning Town from Blackwall and many more things.
I also missed those Northern Counties Palatine 1 buses on the 341 on how they made the styling on the interior look like the Palatine 2 versions with the lights and the purple and turqoise seats with the Red Dot matrix bus stopping sign. I feel like that was when I-bus was first known ππ. First Capital really did set that trend with the dot matrix bus sign.

I remember being on a VERYY packed 316 since we were going from Swiss Cottage to some area around Ladbroke Grove. The bus was packed to the door from Kilburn to Ladbroke Grove and I was with some family and friends. I was sitting at the front on one of the 2 side seats and I knew where we were going although everyone else was around the middle and back. At Ladbroke Grove I got off the bus from the front expecting everyone else to know however it turned out they didn't so I had to jump in from the back doors. We went a few more stops (STILL packed) and then walked for about 15/20 mins since one of my parent's friends insisted he knew where he was going. When we were about a minute from the area, there happened to be a bus stop for the 7 or 70 (I think both) which we easily could've gotten from Ladbroke Grove instead of getting off a few stops later and walking for a long time, but of course the one family friend who knows it all is always correct and the one who knows everything about buses is wrong.
I've only used the 316 then I think and it was AWFUL... don't want to use it ever again. The fact that it can't use decks because of residents is ridiculous. I have a cousin who lives on a road with 3 double decks (1 24hr) and nobody seems to complain yet in other parts its just constant complaints.

I am quite fond of the 287, as it can fly on the A13, nice views at Beam Park, and Rainhamβs neighbourhoods seem nice.
I also like the 247, across Hainault, Marks Gate and Collier Row, as the route is quiet and relaxing.
More routes I enjoy are the 62, 103, 128, 145, 173 and the 368

Being overcome by fumes on an elderly Olympian on the 468 climbing Knights Hill in West Norwood back in the day I used to travel a lot by bus, even doing the 109 down to Croydon and a loooong driver change at TH Thankfully it wasn't the painfully slow DLA63

The pending double decking of the 313 has brought back memories of the Grey Green days. I used to regularly travel between Enfield and Potters Bar and always got excited when one of the Volvos usually seen on the 24 turned up. They could really pick up speed along The Ridgeway and gave a great view across the open fields.

My most vivid memories are when I was in my teens MANY, MANY years ago. Travelling on Trolleybuses, real electric vehicles. Two routes especially, the 604 which ran Hampton Court to Wimbledon, racing and I do mean racing along Hampton Court Road, bearing in mind how light traffic was in them days. From Kington to Wimbledon it's now basically the 131. The other, which to my young mind at the time, showed the power of a Trolleybus, storming up Highgate Hill on a 611. Nothing today comes anywhere near it Not my photo Attachment Deleted
