That is nuts, imagine that you could then travel in places that mirrors bus routes and be cheaper. This could have a drastic impact on some bus routes that mirrors rail lines where people find this out. It's a bit bizarre that train travel is now cheaper than bus travel albeit only by 5p. I doubt if it will make much difference, a lot of people realised long ago that they could do their journey much quicker on a train for the same price and it's noticeable that routes like the 197 and 345 that follow much the same route as LO services are much quieter than they used to be. I'm all for cheaper fares etc but if tfl are in serious trouble (which they seem to be ) surely a rise to say £2.00 single and maybe a £6.00 cap would of been better with say 20% discount for people on a low income ? nothing makes any sense to me , People are deserting buses at it is surely now it's cheaper to get the DLR/tube in some cases why bother with the bus ? For example Stratford to Canary Wharf (D8 I'm looking at you ) Surely all fares on all modes should of risen slightly ? Don't get me wrong I'm grateful for low fares I just see that the money tfl will lose will have to come from somewhere which will be bus routes cut in their entirety and reduced services where they are sometimes needed but what do I know .

The danger of this is it also put the Undgerground in a more crowded situation. It then makes routes like W14 between places like Leyton to South Woodford lose further passenger traffic as it mirrors the Central Line. Other examples such as the 66 between Leytonstone and Newbury Park also become a no brainer. Same goes for the W13 between Leytonstone and South Woodford. Also in the case of route 86 which mirrors TfL rail certain parts would see people flock to the train more where they can as it is now cheaper.

Some of the sights I see at Stratford on the eastbound TfL rails mirrors not far short of Tokyo!!🤣

You have just reminded me of something about TfL rail fares. I had always assume they were the same as using the tube for example Stratford to Epping in Zone 6 is £1.50 off peak but using TfL rail from Stratford to Romford also Zone 6 is £2.40.

I'm not too sure if this will end up being the case with the 86, while a substantial number of people use the route distance, even more people tend to use the route to get between stations on the TfL rail as opposed to actually using it as an alternative. There's also the case where a lot of people between Manor Park and Stratford get the Z1-2 travel card and use the bus out of Stratford instead. As these people already have travel cards the bus is no additional cost to them compared to a Z1-3 travelcard.

A bit of a waste imo. Although I notice in the evenings now they have reduced the service which makes sense due to it being dead.
