I'm old enough to remember the 1958 bus strike..in those days few people had or could afford cars and I'd be off at weekends with my Red Rover or Green Rover ticket ..I think the longest route then wete:
12 Park Royal to South Croydon
73 Stoke Newington to Hounslow
65 Ealing to Leatherhead
18 Aldenham Works to London Bridge
So what routes would people like to see back?

15 East Ham to Richmond....I know this includes the Sunday extension from East Acton to Richmond... although I don't know if many buses did the whole route?
53 Parliament Hill Fields to Plumstead Station
40 Blackwall to Herne Hill
161 to Bromley North
I can probably think of quite a few more??

I was going to mention putting the 71 back to Richmond which I think is still feasible in this day and age, but that was last the case in 1987 which isn’t old enough for you. Or possibly a resurrection of the old Thamesmead 272, but that was withdrawn in 1999 which is even worse. A pity, because I thought this thread had a lot of potential ☹️ |
