I don't know whether to put this thread in General Bus Discussion Board or in the London Bus Operators Board. Over the years bus garages in London have closed down. But if some luck they were to come back so which old bus garage or garages that have been closed down would you bring back.I would like Hendon (AE), Kingston (K), Victoria (GM), Hanwell (HW), Garston (GR), Heathrow (HE) and Finchley (FY) should be bought back because they quite useful. It's just a fun thread and not be taken seriously.

I would like to see Walthamstow [WW] bought back, still feels sad when I go past the site and get a little upset most of it went to housing. Other garages I would like to be bought back are [AP] Seven Kings, Loughton [L], [CF] Chalk Farm, Upton Park

Streatham (AK) would be one I'd love to see return - whilst I was just too young to remember it in operation, I do remember the building very much so which mainly became a go kart racing venue for many years with the stand retained next door for the Streatham Station routes. Nowadays, this would be an excellent garage for Arriva to free up space in that part of South London given how full BN & N is/will be Clapham (CA) is another I like to see return and part of it still exists in fact - when on a bus on Clapham Park Road, you can see the old garage wall running across the entrance to Sainsbury's car park as you pass through the junction. This was one I knew little about - when it shut, like AK, it became a go kart place until 1996 when it was demolished (except for the garage entrance wall) and Sainsbury's built in it's place. I'd imagine this would be handy for either Go-Ahead or Abellio in today's world but could also put Arriva into an interesting position as well. NB: Here is a collection of pictures of AK are closure courtesy of Sainsbury's archives - sainsburyarchive.org.uk/catalogue/search/sabra7c271-clapham-high-street-clapham-branch-images

In addition to HL (Hanwell - HW was Southall) and FY, I miss NB (Norbiton), WH (the original West Ham, near Plaistow Greengate) and the bigger PM which had routes 36, 36a, 36b, 63 & 78 and IIRC some P routes. I agree with AK and WW mentioned here too.

The old Sidcup garage would be handy for a lot of routes. There were whispers in the past couple of years that sites nearby were being looked at but obviously nothing came of it

Another I forgot about though a coach depot rather than a garage is the old Grey Green one that used be situated in Brixton where Windrush Square sits today - from memory, the garage had disappeared by time I arrived in the world but the petrol station next door was still there until the mid 90's when the land was redeveloped for Windrush Square which looked like an actual square compared to today where it's completely open and blends in with the Effra Road pavement. Something I found out is that Orange Luxury Coaches was the original operator of the site and who kept it's identity under Grey Green in later years - I can't find any information on when it closed but apparently, it was still operational in the 80's. Had it survived, I think it would be better served as an outstation for buses rather than coaches although. Redwing Coaches also left their site on Milkwood Road in February last year to move to Beddington so no big coach operator exists in the area anymore - a shame as Redwing had been stationed there for a couple of decades.

Battersea Garage (BA) off Hester Road would've been ideal for Arriva for healthier competition in the Clapham Junction and surrounding areas. This would be the actual old London Transport building that was opposite Arriva's old BA depot (which kept on the code) and neighbouring London General's old BB.

Vjaska, it wasn't Grey-green, but 'Orange Coaches' I remember as a kid being taken to Brighton, journey took for ever, no M23 in those days, adult fare was 5/-(25p!!)today. Coaches were Bedford SBs, happy days. not my pictures. Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

Retaining the old National Travel coach depot on the Catford one way system could have been interesting. If it had remained, Kentish Bus would have had a much better base for the Bromley/Lewisham routes they won in the early/mid 90s.

Good topic, even if utter fantasy.
Mortlake (M) which could run the 209,378,190,419,485,419,533 & N33 & N72.
Norbiton (NB) which could run the 57,65,71,131,213 & X26
Chalk Farm (CF) which could run the 24,46 ,139 ,274, N5 and N20
Hanwell (HL) which could run the E1,E2,195,207,427,483,607,N207
