Statistically the 86
As for which should see changes, none should. Both operators do a really good job on both routes despite their challenges and since the EL2 extension no changes need to be made.

Its a shame the 3 door boarding changed on the LTs as I often thought the 5 would be the ideal route especially at Canning Town and Barking Stations.

I would still say that LT would make a bit of difference with the 5 at Barking Station/Town Centre stops as LT has two exit doors to alight compared to one exit door on other buses and is the same reason why I think the LT's on EL Routes will still have some benefits even once all LT's go front door only boarding.

Nothing to stop the 5 and 86 being combined of course, other than common sense! Those locals who still think of the 87 between Romford and Barking might be pleased to see the 86 on that section. Sorry, tongue very firmly in cheek.

I was say the 86 is busier along the whole route whereas the 5 has a very busy middle section but lightens up at the Romford end. The EL2 was a very good way of relieving the busiest stretch lost by the overlap of the 5 and 87.

Should of kept the 87 instead 5 could of been extended to Aldgate and 115 could of been withdrawn

I think he meant Becontree Heath to Aldgate with the 87 still Romford to Barking. Which probably would be ok at around 70-75 mins.

Everytime I have used the 5 the whole length of route its been at least 70 min or more let alone adding on Canning Town to Aldgate even if you cut the Romford end.

I remember reading a while back on here that there was a bid from Stagecoach just before Go Ahead won the route(s) to have Tri-Axle 12M Double Decks operating between Aldgate - Becontree , With the EL2 extended to Romford , don't know if it was "canteen talk" but there was a Tri Axle 12M E400 in BK parked for a bit apparently it done a trial around the time must be a few years back now but yeah if true could of been a possibility .
