G-CIVH makes her final trip into retirement tomorrow! Looks all lonely parked up on 558 for one final time! Would go onboard and take some pics but I’m not trained on opening doors on the 747! flic.kr/p/2jBEkSpDo you happen to know how many are left at LHR? Would like to get a picture of the last one leaving if all works out. Just been to Hatton Cross the following 747s are sitll here. G-CIVK G-CIVY G-CIVP G-CIVB G-CIVE +one more that I can't identify. Video of G-CIVE being moved photos.app.goo.gl/LkUirUy4zeaJoQeu7. For none blurry version has to be viewed in the app.

Sorry for the late reply, as it's been over a year since I last went over either the LH or SH bases, I wouldn't of known how many were there, so had been waiting for my mate at BA to return from his holiday's. He seems to think there's about 5-6 left, which goes with what george said. He doesn't know when the last one will leave, but he did say that IVB, which is the Negus Retrojet (and only remaining retro liveried 747 at LHR) will be leaving before the end of the month.

Thanks for the info, thankfully did manage to get a picture of Negus while it was parked by the road. I believe they have moved it now, presumably in preparation for its departure.

Another one gone. G-CIVI departed Heathrow this afternoon for the final time. She was delivered to BA on the 02/05/1996. I took some pictures on Camera but also took this one on my phone. photos.app.goo.gl/LdedEUmK1y3rTQuP7

Not BA related but Iran Air is selling loads of stuff including 747s Ooh 747SPs! I thought those were all long gone. My earliest (and probably best) 747 flights were on SPs, but that was 30 years ago now They were slightly odd-looking things but I did like them.

Not been used for any commercial operators since 2016. Last operator was Iran Air. There are still 6 in active service these include. 2 for Las Vegas Sands Corporation 1 for NASA 2 for Pratt & Whitney Engine Services 1 for Royal Flight of Oman.

British Airways. 747. G-CIVP will leave Heathrow on Saturday. I can't find flight times so hoping M1199 will know but destination will be ST Athan. This leaves just C-CIVB,G-CIVK and G-CIVY left. Virgin Atlantic. 747. G-VROM will leave Heathrow on Monday, Going a little bit further than the BA ones Pinal Airpark via LAX for storage. This leaves just G-VROS left at LHR.

Thanks for the update it seems like G-CIVP and G-BYGE which is in Cardiff don't want to leave the fleet 😁. Was hoping to see G-CIVP on saturday as it was probably the last 747 in BA livery but these things happen. Can't see it Monday but would be great to know the flight times for it. Great for anyone going who will see two 747 leaving on Monday.

Won't be long until the last 747s leave Heathrow for the final time. No new news on British Airways ones apart from G-CIVB (Negus) is expected to go next. However there are a couple of movements involving Virgin Atlantic ones.
Virgin Atlantic. Currently at LHR. G-VROM & G-VROS Leaving. 03/10/20 14:05. G-VROM LHR>LAX. This was expected to leave two weeks ago but was cancelled at the last minute. Will be stored at Pinal Airpark but the good news is it will live on as cargo plane with Atlas Air. Arriving. 07/10/20 15.30. G-VROY CQM>LHR. This will go to Heathrow for maintenance before moving to America to have a new life with Atlas Air.
British Airways. Currently at LHR. G-CIVB & G-CIVY.

Just drove along A429 past Cotswold airport (near Kemble) today, and there are at least 8 BA 747s Think the engines had already been removed on most
There are other 747s as well (Corsair, Atlas etc) Plus numerous narrowbodies, (Air Portugal, Indigo ? etc)
I think there are parts recovery firms based there, so planes get flown in and stripped

Have heard rumours that weather permitting, the final 2 747's - IVB & IVY will have simultaneous departures at 0800L from both runways on Thursday 8th Oct. With one then circling back for a fly past. If weather isn't favourable, it may slip back to the 9th.
