Reading and percolating the posts above a dive under would need to be built at Barking to link the Underground to Thamesmead extention and probably it own dedicated line from Barking to where the dedicated Goblin link begins, unless a flyover can be built where the Goblin junction is and run trains down existing Underground Lines as far at the Goblin Junction. Turning to the traction supply, I would say the LO trains would need to be dual supplied. This might involve conversion or new trains. All what I am saying is if you going to extend LO to Thamesmead/Abbey Wood, you might well spend more money and extend the Barking terminating trains as well. The link would be great if there were District 6tph/H&C 6th in addition to LO 4tph. Wouldn't 10tph between Thamesmead and Barking be a bit excessive?

Spotted some TfL emergency vehicles at Custom House station today and later found out there has been various test exercise taking place.
Take as pure speculation but it’s been hinted the 27th March could be a possible opening date.

I got an email from TFL asking for volunteers, it is as follows; • Sunday 13 February: Open Route Evacuation of Train • Saturday 19 February: Train Evacuation in Tunnel to Station • Saturday 26 February: Train Evacuation via Emergency Shaft • Saturday 5 March: Train Evacuation in Tunnel to Station • Sunday 13 March: Mass Volume Timetable Test So assuming this does open on the 08th March, can they do the last piece of testing Mass Volume Timetable Test with the service open? or must TFL complete all 5 stages before opening? That would be the first phase of testing, as posted earlier. it would be great if someone could give a live date to the mayor or set a date he wants the line open by.

It's not going to open to the public until TfL are confident that it is operating reliably, Andy Byford is on record as saying this. That means a few weeks of trial operation to the full initial timetable. Chances are there will be a "soft opening" and there may not even be a prior announcement. If a full trial Paddington-Abbey Wood service is already operating it is a simple enough matter just to unpeel the masking tape and open up the stations to passengers.

Not as bad as some pointless post that simple say things like “oh” or simple one word replies.

Others here may have a better memory than me, but I'm pretty sure the Jubilee Line extension - at least the first bit, from North Greenwich to Stratford - quietly opened on a Friday lunchtime without much fanfare.
I wonder if something similar will happen with the Elizabeth line.

With this project 3 1/2 years late and £4b over budget. I would have thought a provisional opening date could be announced, subject to successful trial testing carried out. Not with some unannounced soft opening in the middle of the night, in case the opening goes wrong.

With this project 3 1/2 years late and £4b over budget Two very good reasons why there is no need to make a big deal about the day it finally opens. A soft opening (such as a Friday lunchtime) also avoids huge crowds from day 1 with a ramp up to rush hour crowds.

Spotted a train displaying Hayes and Harlington today at Custom House Station. Not sure if the train went all the way on test or was just displaying the wrong destination.

I was the second train in service on the line. One of my claims to fame 😂

Quite well hidden within the article are the words "We have a date that we are working towards" which is not quite the same as a planned opening day in my book. As far as I am concerned there is no change to the situation, there is still no set opening date and one will not be announced until TfL can be confident the line will operate reliably. Any dates being bandied around remain as they were before, speculation.
