Looks like school services won't be needed and the 600-series routes will be suspended until March at the earliest, based on what Boris is saying at the moment.

So then the previous 'one school journey each way' still stands I'm guessing.

I have heard through the grapevine that the extras (the V buses) are now discontinued, and Operators can release the buses being used, as won’t be returning. Unofficial at the moment. (not to be confused with the normal 600 series routes which will resume at some future date) I guess in practice this means that any bus that is not upgraded to euroVI can be disposed of. They had to leave before 1st March anyway, or pay daily charge, (or not pay and be fined) Just checked TfL bus changes webpage, and all references to school bus extras seem to have been removed which seems to back this up (if it hadn’t I wouldn’t have posted the above, as it was unsubstantiated rumour) tfl.gov.uk/modes/buses/bus-changes?intcmp=47904

From LOTS:
Following the Government decision to re-open all schools from 8th March, it is intended that at least most of the suspended 6** routes and ‘V’ route extras would be reinstated.

I just can’t wait for the return of SP1-8 (long live the old fleet numbers!). Will VLE14 & 16 be returning? It all depends what the stance is on vehicles not upgraded to Euro VI which those SP’s & VLE’s are not upgraded. As snowman mentioned, we don’t know if operators would just pay the fine to use the non upgraded buses or seek compliant vehicles from other operations like Ensignbus who I believe are running some extras with their own MMC’s IIRC

I just can’t wait for the return of SP1-8 (long live the old fleet numbers!). Will VLE14 & 16 be returning? It all depends what the stance is on vehicles not upgraded to Euro VI which those SP’s & VLE’s are not upgraded. As snowman mentioned, we don’t know if operators would just pay the fine to use the non upgraded buses or seek compliant vehicles from other operations like Ensignbus who I believe are running some extras with their own MMC’s IIRC It was also reported in Stagecoach thread that some of the ADEs have now been stood down. I do not know when the are physically going to be returned (presumably Stagecoach need to remove their blinds etc before driving them back). But whilst these are away, there are fewer spare buses, so more likely SP 1-8 will be needed. One thing I am not sure of though, is if a non compliant bus is used in LEZ, is it the driver or the registered keeper who is responsible for paying the charge. Obviously any fines for non payment go to the registered owner, but can they just name a driver in same way car hire companies can.
