That’s like half the route gone, personally I would leave the X26 as it is. If anything TfL should be looking at increasing it to every 20 minutes during the day and maintain the 30 minutes in the evenings. At the moment I can't see much likelihood of increasing services without cutting something elsewhere. Is there any point in running the X68 at the moment? Move the 355 to Q and C will have the resources to increase the X26. Why do you need to move the 355 simply to give a route more resources? It would be great if you could answer rather than continually ignore certain people's posts because you have some issue with them otherwise defeats the point of the discussion.

Hi I have a few questions, 1) Are TFL continuing the school services after half term or are they stopping? 2) If they are, is it going to be the same routes or are TFL reviewing routes all over again and seeing which ones need them? Because I think TFL missed out a big chunk of areas in London, the 31, 168, 189 all definitely need some extras while the 134 has loads and are all running empty from what I’ve observed
And why are the C11’s extras only going between Archway and Finchley Road? Completely neglected the Brent Cross and West Hampstead areas which is one of C11’s busiest school sections certainly more busy than Gospel Oak to Archway??
Routes I think are in desperate need for extras (which dont have any atm) will have to be the 31, 46, 53, 168, 214, 453
If you guys think some others do too you should mention them and does anyone know if theres a way to contact TFL about it?

I don't think routes in Central London stand much of a chance at getting them, routes like the 453 while may get crowded along one section is just carrying air these days as soon as it passes Westminster. The other day a 25 driver tried to tell people to get the next bus because he was a "school bus" when it was 2:30 and not a single school kid in sight at Holborn Circus, every single passenger just stormed onto the bus. Another factor here is that TfL think a lot of Central London routes are over-bussed as it is, I don't say it often but I think we should be a bit grateful they've not gone and reduced them in order to provide the buses for the suburban services.

Guess you have got a valid point, I do think the 53 should get them because it is filled with schoolkids starting from Lambeth North as of the Oasis Academy, and then once you get to Bricklayers Arms its rampage. The 453 is quite busy too, but I do understand where you are coming from. Hopefully TFL do consider though because these are routes that run alone, no other routes follow the 31, 46, C11 in their separate routings so it should make sense to do so.

If the 521 service was reduced the spare SEe's could be used to run peak hour extras on the 453 between Whitehall and New Cross.

Would love that, but I dont know how the loadings are now on the 521 The 521 is still pretty dead from what I've seen of it, the 507 is a bit busier. I'm sure some of the SEe's could be put to better use elsewhere at the moment such as extras on the 453.

The Government funding for extra journeys at school times is only intended to enable journeys of more than two miles each way (and that applies throughout England, not just in London). Children travelling less than two miles are expected to walk or cycle. That may be why routes that "appear" desperate for extras don't get them - because numbers of children are using them to travel less than 2 miles.

Ohh thank you for clarifiyng, makes sense for the 31 which tbh only needs them between Kilburn and Camden which is JUST about 2 miles, think it is 1.9m. But for routes like the 214, Highgate to Old Street which is filled with school kids is 3/4 of the route maybe even more.

Came across this article on Routeone - www.route-one.net/operators/further-extra-home-to-school-transport-funding-in-england-allocated/ TfL are receiving less funds for school services after October this time round.

Route 286 was certainly busy into Greenwich from Eltham on Sunday afternoon, must get busy on a summer weekend. So many double deck bus routes now head towards North Greenwich that one single deck bus route into Greenwich town centre seems a little imbalanced. Blackheath, Lee, Kidbrooke Estate and Charlton might benefit from a direct bus to Greenwich? Traffic on Trafalgar Road was awful though and probably a big disincentive to further bus routes being routed that way.

The 286 is usually busy on Sunday's particularly since the frequency was reduced, there are far more obvious places to make savings! Could at least upgrade it to double deckers on Sundays.

The route could become DD and save money as the 143D + 643 could then be withdrawn.

Perhaps it'll see a conversion to DD if demand further increases in the future. You do also have the 386, and the 422 down the road linking Greenwich and Blackheath. Charlton does have direct links to Greenwich, namely the 177 and 180. As you've mentioned, heavy traffic on Trafalgar road is the norm, and its only been made worse by the segregated cycle lanes.
