Following the Department of Transport's invitation to MPs, councils and community groups to propose lines and stations that could be reopened with Government funding, the following successful bids have been announced:
- Reopen Meir Station (Stoke-on-Trent)
- Reintroduce passenger services on the Barrow Hill Line between Sheffield and Chesterfield
- Reintroduce passenger services between Leicester and Burton-on-Trent (Ivanhoe Line)
- Reinstate Isle of Wight branch lines
- Reinstate passing loop at Bricket Wood (St Albans Abbey - Watford Junction line)
- Reopen Wellington and Cullompton Stations (between Taunton and Exeter St David's)
- Reinstate Bury - Rochdale via Heywood line
- Reintroduce passenger services between Clitheroe and Hellifield
- New station at Lydeway (between Pewsey and Westbury) as a railhead for Devizes
- Reintroduce passenger services between Totton and Fawley (Waterside Line)
