After about a year and a half (maybe longer), Wood Green’s third escalator is now working. Seen it operate as I left.

Looks like the Piccadilly in-train maps are being updated. Bounds Green, Manor House and Park Royal now have interchange circles and interchange information whilst Caledonian Road now has information about CR&B Overground. Terminals 2&3 and 4 now has the TFL Bar under them and Terminal 2&3 is now properly knows as T2&3 rather than T1,2&3.

Piccadilly Line trains will not call at South Kensington from late-February 2021. This is to allow all five escalators at the station to be replaced; they date back to 1973, have now become unreliable and are the highest priority for replacement on the Underground. The work is expected to be completed in Spring 2022. Circle and District Line trains are not affected and will continue to call normally. Piccadilly Line passengers can use Gloucester Road as an alternative. Work will also commence next month to create more circulating space in the ticket hall, as part of a long-awaited upgrade of the station to cope with rising demand. When is Wood Green’s one going to be back on. They’ve removed the blue casing, I’ve seen it work one time but nothing since.

Cockfosters are lucky their lifts were completed- at Osterley it was meant to be finished last summer, then November. By November work had grinded to a halt and I believe barely anything has happened since then although I have not checked for a little while now Is that due to TFL being broke or COVID?

TfL have unveiled the final design of the new 2024 stock for the Piccadilly line. The exterior is similar to the prototype design released a few years earlier. The interior is changed from the original concept with more of a blue colour scheme. The new trains will supposedly have air-con! Looks good (though the windows are quite small!)

I agree it does look a little dull. However it’s nice that the ‘73 stock will hit the big 50 before they are withdrawn.

The new design seems more suited to the Piccadilly Line opposed to the initial design which simply showed the stock typically, iIIRC the initial interior had brown grab poles and a a moquette featuring W&C, Central, Picadilly Line and Bakerloo Line stripes similar to the S stock with the lines they run on. Seems each line will have their own interior based off their line colour opposed to a singular design.

I don't like those windows either, far too small - I can only guess they are cheaper and easier to maintain than the longer windows found on older trains. Also, looks like the trend of minimal seat padding will continue
