TfL have unveiled the final design of the new 2024 stock for the Piccadilly line. The exterior is similar to the prototype design released a few years earlier. The interior is changed from the original concept with more of a blue colour scheme. The new trains will supposedly have air-con! Looks good (though the windows are quite small!) Just an average design really, nothing special. It looks like they almost copied the 09 Stock I wonder why they rejected the gold gem one back in 2014 Attachment Deleted

I agree it does look a little dull. However it’s nice that the ‘73 stock will hit the big 50 before they are withdrawn. I agree, rather underwhelming, and the miserable grey (like a winter sky) colour of priority seats is excessively bland

The new design seems more suited to the Piccadilly Line opposed to the initial design which simply showed the stock typically, iIIRC the initial interior had brown grab poles and a a moquette featuring W&C, Central, Picadilly Line and Bakerloo Line stripes similar to the S stock with the lines they run on. Seems each line will have their own interior based off their line colour opposed to a singular design. Seems to be a window per seat. How? there is six seats...

I don't get it, this picture is over a year ago or so. So why re-release it and say it is the final design. So I take it that it would look 100% like this then as I thought this was a concept. It looks good at the front but the side windows are crap and too small imo. The lack of cab side windows may be a concern. It looks good at the front but the side windows are crap and too small imo. The lack of cab side windows may be a concern. There are subtle differences to the images released a few years ago: - door windows now shallower - base livery now corporate white rather than silver - corporate blue skirt added - side destination displays now at roof level, not cant-rail as before - door warning illumination now above doors, rather than leading edges - slightly less rake to front - front cab M door redesign - side cab door (O/N) slightly further back Most modern Stock don’t have side cab windows; 1992/‘95/‘96 very small nearside only, 2009/S none.

I wonder if the Uxbridge branch will gain the night tube when these younger models are introduced.

I'll miss the current seats that seem to breathe like lungs. The new ones look very hard.

Why does the Piccadilly Line have a restricted service at Turnham Green?

Why does the Piccadilly Line have a restricted service at Turnham Green? At the moment stopping every train there would delay the service and the current schedule and amount of available trains wouldn't be achievable.
