Got better things to do with my life quite frankly - the whole point of the advert is advertise John Lewis not whether the 222 goes to Tooting or not. Someone made a good point in that they suspect the number and destination were purposefully chosen as a sort of gag as the word "too" is in the word Tooting and throw in the "222" part as well. More disturbingly, a recent Argos advert featuring an all black family that Argos described as a modern British family received complaints for having no white people in it - I mean, I'm no fan of the BLM movement but for goodness sake, not only is it simply an advert but I really couldn't less what colour the people were in it - as long as the advert is above board, fine by me.

I've only just seen the advert.... youtu.be/Juv2c0xgGnoA bit of a fuss about nothing really although a 220 to Tooting might have been better lol....... a bigger concern is christmas adverts being shown in mid November but I digress.

Christmas adverts have been coming out in November for many years, presumably giving the companies enough time to market themselves for the Christmas period - I fail to see how it’s a concern either.

There's a 2009 Doctor Who story called Planet of the Dead where the plot revolves around a single doored London double-decker on the 200 (destination Victoria) accidentally entering a wormhole to a giant insect-populated planet. One of the passengers said she/he was taking it home to Brixton, which then triggering an automatic thought that the bus route should then be the 2. Despite all the inconsistencies with the 'real' 200 I was just greatful that one of my favourite TV shows involved one of my local route numbers.
On one of the Carry On films¹ there was a comical argument between three robbers on which bus went where, one of them saying the 73 goes through Putney and Wimbledon. As a kid i was shouting out corrections but later on realise that inconsistencies are often deliberate. Eg. Fictional Grange Hill school being in North London whereas Grange Hill tube is in East London (although it could then be argued that the school was named after a different Grange Hill altogether).
Regarding '222 to Tooting', I've often imagined ibus saying that so i personally take it as a bit of deliberate tongue-in-cheek fun.
¹ - EDIT: Carry on Matron

Are these people real or WHAT??!! It's an advert not a documentary! What next-nicking Santa for not having navigation lights or a squawk box transmitter? I need a lie down Obviously these "viewers" only watch the ads. If they want to complain try 'The Sweeny-the trojan bus' and Foyles War with a RM

"Two two two to Tooting". Its obviously a deliberate move by John Lewis, which I have absolutely no problem with. I've in fact always wished for the 222 to serve Tooting for this exact reason.

Very off topic but when else would they start showing them? In most years its the first week in November, this isn't a normal year and we will need to shop in a shorter space of time because of Lockdown. Would hardly be ideal to go full force from December onwards and risk a surge in cases after Christmas. I usually love Christmas but more happy about a new year after 2020!!

It seems as though those people who complained must have a lot of time on their hands. They're probably those people that take life way too seriously. Bunch of killjoys. Talk about being OTT.

Whilst I'm not the type to complain about things like route numbers etc. I do feel that previous adverts have been better made. This one just doesn't sit right with me.

Seems that it gets complaints every year. Don't think it is bus spotters as they say. One thing the Christmas adverts are way too early, 1 November they were on tv, I was like wtf! then between them black friday adverts, its a joke. We would soon be getting Easter adverts at 1st January...

The reason why they are early is likely down to the companies needing a few weeks before December to market themselves - it isn't a new thing and it's really not a big deal

Come on... We all know there are plenty of members of this very forum that would get their knickers in a twist about this...
