I think it moved up as a result of the 436 being diverted to Battersea as the main three South London routes were the 12, 53 & 109 but the former two has dropped off patronage wise over the last few years whilst the 109 has remained very steady and the next one behind the 36 in South London. I'd expect the 109 to eventually overtake it the more Central London is meddled with.

Omg Route 399 is no longer low usage. The New record low usage is: 9,218 Bottom Route is: 497 Geoff may need to do another video again to ride on bus 497! The 497 is only bottom because this data covers the period April 2019 - March 2020, and the 497 was only introduced in January 2020! According to diamondgeezer's post, if you work out the average weekly usage, the 497 would be 10th bottom, and the 399 would still be bottom of the list.

Why ? If these routes are already busy why would they need branding? Isn’t the whole point of branding is to highlight the main routes? Branding is usually used to increase patronage generally using a route diagram & frequency as well as show off any landmarks or amenities which help with that aim or to promote ticketing options or costs. That's not to say you can't do it to busy routes as many networks outside of London do this using all kinds of routes - remember the 140 was one of the branded routes in the Hayes trial.

Looking at the single decker routes, the C10 tops the list this year, followed closely by 235, 316 and W15. The 72, which was top last year, had almost halved in patronage this year...think it's mostly due to the "temporary" cutback due to closure of Hammersmith Bridge?
