This sounds like a name given by a local council to a service aimed at transporting the elderly around.
No matter how much I do dislike Optare's vehicles, the name is iconic and has stood the test of time really well.

This is simply a case of " if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Optare is a unique and memorable brand name than Switch Mobility. Although, Optare is now just going known as 'Switch'. So I am guessing Metrodecker for example will now be known as the 'Switch Metrodecker EV'. This is a rebrand that was just not needed.

Totally agree with your sentiments, but imagine the same was said when the Roe works was rebranded as Optare.

What do we think of the new name for Optare. Can't say I am keen. What an odd name - sounds like a feature for the Nintendo Switch which would allow it to connect to mobile phones. The irony is the Metrodecker recently won OEM of the Year (Bus/Commercial Vehicle) at the prestigious 2020 EVIEs Awards.

I wonder if any operators that introduce optares in the future will use S codes instead of O? e.g. SME

Switch Mobility will inevitably be shortened to its initials SM, which is a rather unfortunate choice ....

Sigh... Who asked for this? I like "Optare", its a well known brand name and it rolls off the tongue unlike this new name. It'll probably take a year or two before they become known by their new name rather than the old one.

Why change the name when Optare is a long standing, reputable name in the bus manufacturing industry? Switch Mobility Solo and Switch Mobility MetroCity do not go well together either IMO.
