What is the purpose of the new shorter Metrocity, when the Solo is already available at single-door lengths? Also seems that Optare have now discontinued the Versa and Tempo, instead offering the Metrocity up to 11.5m - similar to the DXE-length MMCs replacing the enviro 300. It looks like Switch Mobility are consolidating their range into the Metrocity and Metrodecker. I'm not sure if the Solo is due for the chop just yet but it is notable that the shorter-length ADL Enviro200 MMC is becoming an increasingly popular alternative where shorter buses are required.

The Wrightbus demise saw end of the StreetLite and StreetVibe, and streetlites confusingly came in both door forward and wheel forward versions, so I can only assume it is to differentiate the wheel forward model (solo) from door forward (metrocity). I suspect Switch mobility see more market share in the 8.5 - 9.5m range than having full size buses

What is the purpose of the new shorter Metrocity, when the Solo is already available at single-door lengths? Just a guess, but one factor may be that a door-forward design (MetroCity) will have better manoeuvrability than a wheel-forward design (Solo) of the same overall length.

Yes although you can hardly blame people (including me) for thinking so given it disappeared from the website along with everything bar Streetdecks and I can’t think of any operator recently ordering any

I agree although I'm more surprised they're still persisting with a micro hybrid option rather than a full electric one for the Streetlite or even the Hawk (really not sold on that name) which I believe was the restyled Eclipse which no longer has the B8RLE chassis either.

I wonder why ADL have only recently become more popular for shorter SDs, at least outside of London? The original Enviro 200 was available at similar lengths, as well as the Pointer and ALX200 - during which time many operators opted for Solos instead, and more recently Streetlites in some cases. I suppose Optare have usually been the only option for even smaller vehicles around 8m, or with reduced width, such as those used on the H2/H3, but not sure about 9m SDs.

Any Optare Switch Mobility vehicles which don't have a YJ** plate? FTFY Switch Mobility sounds more like a finance scheme for elderly shopping scooters
