In terms of looks has to be BYD electrics found on the 692/699. Inside very spacious but the outside looks like a Lego model bus IMO.

As a driver it was initially the early¹ PVLs allocated to London General as being Volvos I was expecting them to be identical in performance to the NV and VC class Volvo B10Ms (back then i wasn't quite yet clued up on engine specs). I was proper disappointed that on top of them having slower pullaway that there was no 'proper' kickdown, unlike the outgoing Metros. On a couple of occasions i actually swapped my PVL with another driver who had a Metro, although there were a handful of other drivers who also prefered those Leyland beauts. My loathing of them on their performance didn't last long as i knew i had to get used to them....no other choice as the Metros where starting to depart, although were due Trident versions (PDLs) later that year.
In terms of looks and comfort the PVLs did shine, which was why my loathing of them didn't last long nor that extreme. The eventual arrival of the 53 reg four speed Voith PVLs and WVLs was a great improvement, which always made me wish that version Voith gearbox was spec'd from PVL56, numerically London General's oldest Voith B7TL. I sadly never got to drive any ZF versions, of which the Sutton batch was my favourite after the re-engine program.
¹ - three speed Voith

Hate is a strong word, but I’m not a fan of Optare Versas, early E200s are often not nice, but I reserve my strongest vitriol for the Scania OmniCity. I unfortunately have to get both the Stagecoach and RATP examples fairly regularly, and they all share the same characteristics: brittle papier-mâché bodywork, spine jarring suspension and grossly uncomfortable rock hard seats. They can’t go soon enough for my liking.
From the past : a slow hand clap please for London Country Leyland Nationals with vinyl seats. I quite like Nationals, but oh those seats, especially on a hot day...

RATP, will lose the Majority of theirs soon to if that's soon enough for you!!😄😄😄

Buses I hate? Now let me see... 1. Scania omnicity 2. Scania omnicity 3. Scania omnicity
Does anyone know if the ULEZ changes this year will finally rid us of these monstrous contraptions?

The ones that aren't upgraded will go but given that a number between Sullivans, Stagecoach & RATP have been, they will continue to stick around until no longer needed.

I suspect the hybrids will certainly receive inserts for the 180 given it will have a small allocation of them and maybe even the diesel Enviro 400's.

Most unlikely I would think although it would be interesting to see, I don't mind Scania's despite their rock hard seats and suspension.

Not going to be popular but Enviro 400 MMCs. Specifically integrals and the Scania ones at Reading I am not one to care for engine noise stuff however the ride quality of many MMCs is absolutely abysmal, they slam into every hole and bump into the road - this coupled with the window mountings just makes an almighty racket. I distinctly remember being on EH207 on the N89 and quite literally anything that could rattle did. A major step down from the latter E40Hs which I often have on the 422. Much better ride quality and a lot less rattles. The BYD MMCs however still suffer from the window issue however the ride quality is comparative bliss.
Much prefer Volvos

Buses I hate? Now let me see... 1. Scania omnicity 2. Scania omnicity 3. Scania omnicity Does anyone know if the ULEZ changes this year will finally rid us of these monstrous contraptions? Think I'm the only person who like the scania omnicities on here Remeber I had a friend who wasn't into buses but his dad was a driver when it did an odd run on the 127 when that route was operated by Scania Omnidekkas, he kept calling it the spaceship bus due to how spacious it was but even he hated them. But for some odd reason I love the engine noise on the bus up there with the Wright Gemini 1 and 2 imo, it's spacious and even though the seats aren't cushiony to me they're still comfortable probably because of how high up they are. But I had no issues with the bus except for the windows remember them having a button which you had to click to open but I had struggle opening every time I got on them. Do remember the ones on the 405 when it was with Metrobus did end up getting refitted so the Windows opened without you having to open it. Sadly none for me in the Croydon area all the one's with Metrobus are gone now if I'm not mistaken, which I guess is lucky for everyone else here aha. Saying all this despite my love for the DD was very impartial to the SD's I'd say they were more on the ugly side and do prefer Citaros as a long SD bus compared to them a lot more.

Much prefer Volvos I don't really notice many bumps in the road in my area, so perhaps it does the E400MMC's better, but there are few, occasional bumps in a few places which can make a horrific rattling noise, which is very annoying. The rattling noise can also occur on a few ones while they sit idle and vibrate for some reason. I can agree with you on the BYD version, it does have that window rattling, but it doesn't vibrate, and runs very smoothly.
