Not going to be popular but Enviro 400 MMCs. Specifically integrals and the Scania ones at Reading I am not one to care for engine noise stuff however the ride quality of many MMCs is absolutely abysmal, they slam into every hole and bump into the road - this coupled with the window mountings just makes an almighty racket. I distinctly remember being on EH207 on the N89 and quite literally anything that could rattle did. A major step down from the latter E40Hs which I often have on the 422. Much better ride quality and a lot less rattles. The BYD MMCs however still suffer from the window issue however the ride quality is comparative bliss. Much prefer Volvos Yes the quick-release window design on MMCs is a major flaw. It was supposed to be an alternative to bonded glazing that offered the looks of bonded with the practicality of gasket glazing - which would have been a great idea if it could be made to work without the awful squeaking and rattling. The ventilation is pretty noisy as well. It's a shame because the MMC is otherwise a pretty nice bus in my opinion.
The Volvo MMCs at least have a better ride, even if the lower-deck layout isn't great (as with all B5LHs). Shame there aren't many of them around. Only had a couple of rides on Scania MMCs - all I can remember is being deafened by the engine / fan noise.

Buses I hate? Now let me see... 1. Scania omnicity 2. Scania omnicity 3. Scania omnicity Does anyone know if the ULEZ changes this year will finally rid us of these monstrous contraptions? Think I'm the only person who like the scania omnicities on here Remeber I had a friend who wasn't into buses but his dad was a driver when it did an odd run on the 127 when that route was operated by Scania Omnidekkas, he kept calling it the spaceship bus due to how spacious it was but even he hated them. But for some odd reason I love the engine noise on the bus up there with the Wright Gemini 1 and 2 imo, it's spacious and even though the seats aren't cushiony to me they're still comfortable probably because of how high up they are. But I had no issues with the bus except for the windows remember them having a button which you had to click to open but I had struggle opening every time I got on them. Do remember the ones on the 405 when it was with Metrobus did end up getting refitted so the Windows opened without you having to open it. Sadly none for me in the Croydon area all the one's with Metrobus are gone now if I'm not mistaken, which I guess is lucky for everyone else here aha. Saying all this despite my love for the DD was very impartial to the SD's I'd say they were more on the ugly side and do prefer Citaros as a long SD bus compared to them a lot more. No, I like the Scanias as well as do a few others on here despite the awful suspension and rock hard seats.

The Scania Citys should of been lovely buses however they get extremely hot in summer and some of the worst ride quality of any bus, this isn't helped by the dreadful roads of Reading. If I'm not mistaken I do believe the previous CEO of Reading Buses expressed his disappointment with the Scania aspect of the product.

I personally really dislike E200MMCs and E400MMCs. They look flimsy, often have more dents and often look much dirtier than other buses such as the Omnicities, all types of Geminis, most of Optare/Switch Mobilities buses, the E400HCity and even the original E400s. I also dislike Optare/Switch Mobilities Metrodecker, it just looks like a fattened enviro 400. I also REALLY hate bus operators who just have their vehicles resprayed red, with no consideration of any coloured (whether it be black or silver) highlights. The only major operator I have seen who mostly keeps the black parts are RATP (not including some of the ADEs and the three silver lines on the front of their omnicities) although recently I saw a refurbished Abellio E400MMC which did still have all of its black highlights as well as the TT Gemni 2s with black headlights. But RATP order buses which have no black/grey headlights among other areas of the bus so surely, the criticism your giving would also apply to them? I mean, I don't like it myself as I'm very critical of overall red as it is but TfL has decided rightly or wrongly that operators can do it. I don't understand the point about the MMC often having more dents and looking dirtier than other buses - any bus can look dirty and have dents, it all depends on the conditions they drive through, the garage having an actual working wash and/or the ability of the drivers driving them. So for example, the ones you regularly may drive down poorly maintained roads for example which leaves the impression they are dirty whereas in my area, this is certainly not the case with the MMC's I see. Feel free to not like them (I can't stand the original Enviro 200 when many like them), just can't agree with the reason you gave.

What's the type of bus got to do with it being dirty? The Gemini 2s and LTs at RR are really filthy at the moment due to the bus wash being out of action and one of WH's Omnicities is running around looking like it's had a fire while the 62s MMCs are always clean as the bus wash is inside the garage and less susceptible to freezing over. It's nothing to do with the type of bus but rather the conditions at the garage which allow them to operate bus washes, and how seriously operators take cleanliness. As for buses getting dented it's going to depend on the routes they operate, I've seen mashed up Streetlites alongside mashed up E200 MMCs, some routes have many speed bumps and roads full of potholes which others do not. I don't quite get the reference to a flattened out E400 with the MetroDecker, if anything the Enviro400 is more "flat", the rear looks nothing like an Enviro400. I find it funny you mention RATP keeping black parts when if you look at their MMCs and Gemini 3s they've gone far overboard with the red compared to other operators. Look at the headlight clusters on this 139 as opposed to this 25. Then look at this 94 compared to this 19.

What I said in my original post (which I highlighted) was that RATP buses often still have black highlights after refurbishment for example between the windows on DLE30002 (not my picture): www.flickr.com/photos/153467089@N08/50096536618/ in comparison with Metroline's DE1001 (not my picture): www.flickr.com/photos/141091249@N06/49329513127/I know what you said but as my reply stated, RATP have ordered numerous MMC's, Citys & B5LH Gemini's with red headlight surrounds whereas every other operator has kept the black headlight surround when ordering these vehicles so they are just as culpable IMO.

All E400Hs on Stagecoach. They should have done what Metroline and Arriva did and carried on ordering E400s (198xxs) until 2016.

There's not much different from the E40Hs and E400s passenger wise apart from the extremely fast pick up and the inevitable "whoosh" of the Euro6 E40Hs. Stagecoach do still have diesel Enviro400s around, there were 64reg Enviro400s around the company by which point the MMC took over afterwards for the 498 and after in 2015.

For me. Another bus design I slyly disliked was the Alexander Dash that were used on some stagecoach routes in the 90s.
Also the optare excels that I used to see on the 108 in Stratford and Bow and the 396 in Ilford

I liked the Excel, just a shame how unreliable they were although Blackpool Transport persisted with a sizeable collection of them for many years.

You see with the paladin buses it will always hurt me that I didn't get to travel on those buses as much especially the ones that used to be with Metroline on the 113 and 302. I only went on those buses probably 3 times in my life. As for the excel they really were unreliable. I'm sure WH241 can testify to this

Yes, I hate the whooshing sounds... glad to see they managed to make it a quieter whoosh on the YX16s/SN67s. And yes, I'm aware of the SL64s' existence, but there were only three/four of them, which almost always work on the 422, along with 10196 and the LX11s/LX61s/LX12s.

I wasn't too keen on the original Paladin front - the ones with the big chin. These were more suited to full-size buses but looked out of place on a Dart. However from 1993 they redesigned the front end to suit smaller buses, and for me that was the best-looking body on the step-entrance Dart from then on. The ones with route branding for the C2 looked particularly good.
The less said about that pug ugly Dash the better!

Can’t believe it’s taken me so long to find this thread, hopefully I’ll have some time tomorrow to express my thoughts and feelings about ADL products and the terrible ride quality they’ve always had
