Bit of trivia here but the RML's were allocated to LT Route 6 on 01/09/66 and the route was continued to worked mainly by RML's until 27/03/04, a period of 38 years 2 months 25 days. Closely followed by the 15 which I believe had last built RML allocated until conversion. Has any other service route had a single type allocated for longer ?

I believe the 137 had forty years of RM operation, converted from RTs in 1964 and to DWs in 2004. Stand to be corrected.

I haven't yet found a route that matches the 6 for a single type. If the 36 hadn't had its brief MD interlude it would have beaten the 6, as it retained an RM allocation right up to OPO conversion in 2005, over 44 years after they were first introduced.

Thanks on that, couldn't remember whether or not RMs survived on route all the way til 2004

Not quite correct as all crew routes were opo on sundays and some routes were opo from mid evening

Appreciate that the route was opo Sundays but the mainstay of the route was RML's Mon to Sat, that is why I said in "mainly"

The 19 had VLAs before the DWs were ready. The 337 started off with the DWs intended for the 137 bedroom the p4 reg VLAs arrived for the 337.
