Routes affected by the proposed closure of Threadneedle Street and part of Queen Victoria Street to vehicular traffic are 8, 11, 26, 133 and night routes N8, N11, N26, N133 and N242. Details of the proposals with maps are shown on the City of London Corporation website. city-of-london.citizenlab.co/en/projects/all-change-at-bank

The diversion of the 133 will affect a lot of people.
There's a new walkway through what used to be Broad Street Station that means crossing the roadway in the bus station. I was already thinking they might try to remove the bus station.
I can see London Buses cutting the 133 at London Bridge.

Cue the 26 diverting to TSQ and the 11 pulled out of the area. Clearly the City is destined to be a food path and cycle heaven.

If not the 133 cut back then something from the North pulled back as the 133 will basically join the 35, 47, 149, 344 and 388 between LB and Liverpool Street. Id say the 388 as originally planned at some point in the next 2 years. The 8, 11, 26 and N242 add another 3 routes to Cornhill along with the 25 with the 8 duplicating the it to City Thameslink (bad 25 terminal). 25 cut to Algate? Basically this makes all city routes vulnerable as the 8, 11, 26, 133 will all add to corridors already pretty well served. To me gives a bit more truth to the 43 to Moorgate rumour doesn't it.

Why would the 26 be diverted to Trafalgar Sq because of the changes at Bank. The constant need to tinker with pretty much every route for the sake of it is really tedious IMO. How many routes have actually changed over the last 10 to 20 years? Not many!

Some routes have changed twice in a few years. 23, 172 are examples with others having 3 cut backs (3 and 15). The 26 would maintain a Liverpool Street to TSQ link of tfl decide again to try and shorten the 11. Every route in central London will be looked at over the next few years I'm sure with some like the 45 possibly changing again.

Where does the 133 pick up most people at Liverpool Street Bus Station, Old Broad Street or Bank? Before the crazy amount of works in the area, the 133’s first stop at Liverpool Street was the busiest but it certainly was common for 133’s to have a few people waiting at all stops along Old Broad Street. Bank isn’t as busy, would say Monument was a busier stop before

Bank isn’t as busy, would say Monument was a busier stop before Pre-corona 133 would pick up a healthy sprinkling of passengers throughout (was the only route remaining on old broad street). In fact from that side it’s the fastest way of getting from Liverpool Street to bank / monument / London Bridge as congestion on that part had gone down significantly

Iv heard that even on the weekends when the City is incredibly quiet the 133 had a good loads from Liverpool Street. I'm guessing people coming into Liverpool Street from the east on the train then heading to the Southbank and Borough.

I'm guessing people coming into Liverpool Street from the east on the train then heading to the Southbank and Borough. I think the 133 is probably safe, it just means there will be a bus desert in a big block of the City surrounded by Moorgate, Cornhill, Bishopsgate and London Wall so some people will have to walk further. On the plus side providing that bus stops are sensibly located the changes will bring buses on the east - west routes (8, 11 and 26) into the heart of the City around the Bishopsgate/Cornhill junction where the shops and Leadenhall Market are. I wonder about the future of the 344, particularly now that the 133 would share the same route north of Monument. The one way working around London Bridge/Southwark Bridge is not very satisfactory. I think Southwark Bridge Road needs a bus route, but not sure it needs to run over Southwark Bridge, perhaps an extension of the 388 from London Bridge to Elephant via Southwark Street and Southwark Bridge? The 344 could be cut back to Elephant subject to stand space. Alternatively if many people use the 344 for journeys that cross Elephant & Castle, perhaps it could be rerouted the direct way along Borough High Street?

A bus desert there and a red wall of buses along Bishopsgate again. In a more logical situation another route would have been sent via the current 133 routing (with the 133 remaining aswell) to even things out. Instead a large catchment area will be busless whereas the 133 will add to the 35/47/149/344/388.
