Taken from Alex Hornbys Twitter: "Exciting news at Transdev today: we’ve reached agreement with Arriva to acquire Yorkshire Tiger and its operations in Halifax & Huddersfield. It’ll be business as usual for now - completion due this summer. Looking forward to meeting our new colleagues & customers in due course! t.co/Kyhr6iAxTE"

Should be noted the 231 & 232 Huddersfield - Wakefield routes are not included in the deal, and will transfer to the Arriva Yorkshire Belle Isle depot. 9 Wonder if the last 2 15-reg 406/7 Solos are part of the deal, or whether they will join the other 3 408-10 in the main Arriva fleet. The newer MMC and Versa already being transferred out of Tiger, which makes a little more sense now ... though the shutting down of the Leeds based operation also contributed here.

Definitely on my list for a visit later in the year.

Agreed, I always felt Yorkshire Tiger had been a bit neglected by Arriva as of late. I can only hope they bring it up to the same high standard as their other operations in Yorkshire.

Alex Hornby tweeted yesterday Yorkshire Tiger will become "Team Pennine." There's also images of a new pink livery for the operation

Today was the first day of Team Pennine's operations. Have to say I'm very impressed from what I've seen from them so far! They have acquired 5 16 reg ex NSL Gatwick Enviro200's for route 233 (now known as Denby Darts route D1) and had a launch event in Huddersfield on Friday prior to operations starting where 2 of these buses were showcased. They have also announced today that they will be launching a new bus route to link Huddersfield with Kirkheaton. If they live up to their aim of making bus travel better and more attractive, then I'm sure it'll encourage more people within Huddersfield and Halifax to ditch their cars in favour of the bus and personally I'm looking forward to trying them out when I return north later this year! Just hope they make areas such as Holmfirth and Kirkburton more accessible with a regular bus service with more modern vehicles, which so far First are unable to do.
Team Pennine will also be removing it's 60 reg Scania OmniLinks and certain Optare Solos from it's fleet in the coming months

Apparently there were problems on the first day, as quite a few buses were deemed "non-roadworthy" by Transdev, whilst Arriva seemed to not find it an issue

Be interesting to see how the Mellor Stratas go down in Halifax. As an area that saw operation by various rouge TJ Walsh minibuses, albeit not for a few years, it maybe an area where they maybe a success.

The new 262 service (Huddersfield - Kirkheaton) will be branded as "KirkheatonQuick". From the same date, Huddersfield town routes 319 (Berry Brow) and 360 (Brackenhall - Royal Infirmary) will be branded "HuddsQuick" with refurbished buses. The complicated service pattern on the 435/436/437 (Wakefield - Holmfirth) will be vastly simplified, with all journeys operating the same route to a regular hourly timetable. The new service will be renumbered X1 and branded "Holmfirth Explorer". There are timetable changes for Halifax routes 20/21 (Rye Lane) and 533/534 (Northowram) and Huddersfield route 324 (Meltham). The new Mercedes minibuses for the Halifax area are due to arrive by October and will carry "CalderCountry" branding.

The six new Mellor Strata minibuses for "Calder Country" services at Halifax are now entering service on routes 530 (Fountainhead), 561/562 (Ripponden) and 577 (Boulderclough), this is what they look like (not my photo): flic.kr/p/2mHrVVAwww.transdevbus.co.uk/teampennine/new-tailor-made-buses-caldercountryIn the meantime, South Pennine Community Transport has been sub-contracted to operate routes 532 (King Cross) from 13th September and 514 (Pellon/Wainstalls) from 28th September, due to a temporary shortage of drivers. They are not the only operator sub-contracting in Halifax as CT Plus Yorkshire also has a three-bus operation covering First routes 539 (Stainland) and 587 (Rochdale) from 1st November.
