What a cracking match with Fulham and Liverpool. It certainly was and Fulham probably should have won, everyone was expecting Liverpool to stroll it, myself included.

so Premier League returns tonight π My top 6 and bottom 3 predictions for the end of the season. 1. Man City 2. Liverpool 3.Chelsea 4 Arsenal 5. Tottenham 6. Manchester United 18. Leeds United 19. Fulham 20. Bournemouth Top 6: 1) Manchester City - very close between them & Liverpool due to City selling several first team players 2) Liverpool - Diaz will replace Mane more effectively than people think, Salah to get golden boot 3) Chelsea - I suspect they have a few more signings incoming 4) Arsenal - If Jesus fires and we don't have major injuries, we should get top 4 though would rather it's through the Europa League as it's a trophy 5) Spurs - Bissouma is great business but their business doesn't look as great as others make them out to be, will be close though for 4th 6) Manchester United - Ten Haag has a job on his hands, they've got a lot to prove Bottom 3: 18) Southampton - I have a feeling they may finally drop this season especially if Che Adams does end up at Forest, just don't think their squad has the numbers or quality anymore 19) Fulham - Silva hasn't been great in his three previous jobs in the Premier League before and while Fulham have a better squad than last time, I don't think they've enough collectively 20) Bournemouth - I can see them struggling quite a bit, have only signed a couple of players and squad depth is an issue. Parker could be one of the first to be sacked I'd pretty much agree with your top 6 there, though Chelsea's rare Goodison Park win today gives me hope we're in for a good season. Before today they'd only won there twice in the last 8 years and both of those seasons they'd went on to win the league. Sterling, Koulibaly and Cucurella looked good on their debuts as well, though hopefully the standard will improve as we didn't play at our best. I think Newcastle could finish best of the rest, though I'm hoping Palace could be the surprise package team that competes for a spot in Europe. Though for the relegation battle, I think Nottingham Forest will struggle as they've made a whole load of new signings which may not work well in their favour if they don't gel together quickly. Southampton definitely do look as if they could be in that relegation battle this season too, and I agree in saying this could be the year when they may finally be relegated. Fulham could survive though if Mitrovic actually scores some goals like he did today and not save his best for the championship. Marco Silva seems a better prospect than Scott Parker was at Fulham too, and I agree I can't see Bournemouth surviving another season with Parker at the helm. Brentford may also be in for a tricky season should they suffer from so called second season syndrome like Huddersfield and Sheffield United did in recent seasons (and Leeds nearly falling victim last season), but I do like having them in the premier league so hopefully not.

I think some are getting very carried away with Chelsea mainly with these predictions of 6th place I'm seeing, they will strengthen before the window shuts though nowhere near to reach 1st as I see someone predicted here (probably tongue in cheek I imagine). I don't get the hype around Newcastle if I'm honest as their squad isn't better than West Ham (who I think will get 7th), Leicester, Villa and you could even argue the likes of Palace or Brighton too - Pope is a good signing but their midfield and squad depth don't wow me so I think somewhere around 11-12th for them. I always like to be a little bold with the relegation places as it's easy to just predict the new teams to drop straight back plus I got Brentford right last season (as well as Palace who many tipped to drop) so I'm sticking with Forest staying up & Southampton taking their place though I think it will be close between those two, Bournemouth, Fulham & Everton. I think Brentford will be ok, been impressed with their signings like Mee, Lewis-Potter & Hickey with Damsgaard joining too (the guy who scored that free kick for Denmark at the Euros) and unlike Huddersfield & Sheffield United, they have a particular way of running things so I don't see them struggling. I also think Leeds will be ok too.

I had this feeling Liverpool wouldn't get three points against Fulham. I don't know what it is about that team but they usually seem to struggle against them and this has been like that for years. Still a good game though. Let's see how the red mancunians are like today against the seagulls and the blue mancunians in the capital against the hammers

Expect the same as last season. Only good thing is that the scoreline was slightly better against Brighton than last season

Thought the worst when Southampton scored first, but happy for the win at the end for Spurs Arsenal off to a good start, and good to see Brentford and Fulham hold out in their first games of the season Man United had a shocker Ronaldo is stuck there now

I'm also a Chelsea fan and think we've done some good business so far in the window, but we need some more and I'm confident there'll be some late business just hopefully not some of the awful panic buys we've done in the past. Another right back to compete with Reece James is essential (though I fear we may not get one now Azpilicueta has signed a new deal). Based on today, Ten Hag has a huge task ahead of him to turn United around. Southampton are a confusing team as they always seem to have rotten results but manage to get enough points on the board to stay up even though their squad is poor, I think they'll just about scrape survival this year. Everton could well be in trouble, Lampard's squad is poor and he desparately needs new players - though given Everton's shambolic recruitment I'm not holding my breath and I think he might be the first manager to get the sack.
