Thought I'd start a thread for places that don't have a train station, and in a fantasy world where there were train lines running through these stations what zones would you put the station in?
The SW of London especially around Richmond Park has no stations, so there's a lot of places that don't have a station: Putney Heath (Zone 3 - given that the surrounding areas are Zone 3) Wimbledon Village (Zone 3 - as above) Roehampton (Zone 3) Roehampton Vale (around Asda area, Zone 3/4) Kingston Vale (Zone 4) Coombe (Zone 4) Ham (Zone 5) Petersham (Zone 4) Richmond Park (southwestern parts, Zone 5, centre Zone 4, northeastern parts Zone 3)
Other areas: Arkley (Zone 5) Totteridge (Zone 4, T&W is technically in Whetstone) Barnet Gate (Zone 5/6) Edgware North (around Broadfields Estate, Zone 5) Stanmore Village (north of Stanmore, Zone 5/6) Harrow Weald (Zone 5/6)
Feel free to comment, and add your own suggestions for those places or other places I have missed.

Barnet Gate would have lower passenger numbers than Roding Valley cuz they'll all be too busy in their range rovers ;D

Ah : I was hoping this would be a thread about existing stations outside the zones. I shall go away again!

Going back to talking about zones, I propose some zone realignments in SW London: I feel that Zone 4 in the Hounslow area is too big and would propose the following: Brentford and Boston Manor to be moved to Zones 3/4 Hounslow Central and Hounslow East to be moved to Zone 5 (or at least the latter to Zone 4/5) Barnes could possibly move to Zone 2/3 with Putney in Zone 2

I’m gonna propose some zones that could occur in East London:
Barking Riverside: Zone 4, but if DLR goes to Dagenham Dock, then Zone 4/5.
Castle Green/Renwick Road: Zone 4, but if c2c serves it, it should be in Zone 4/5.
Beam Park: Zone 5/6, why not? It’s In-between Rainham and Dagenham Dock. And cheaper to go to Central London.
Thamesmead: Zone 4. Nuff said.
Becontree Heath: Zone 5, but it’s weird the distance Chadwell Heath and Romford have.

I'd probably move Norbury to Zone 4, or at least Zone 3/4. Reason being Zone 3 stretches quite far north on the A23, probably as far as Brixton Hill (if you were to draw a straight line from Clapham South to Herne Hill stations, which are the nearest stations on the zone 2/3 border either side, it would cut through Brixton Hill, about half a mile north of the South Circular. Then Streatham Hill, Streatham, Streatham Common and Norbury are all in Zone 3, so I think it makes sense to move Norbury to Zone 4. Then there's only really Thornton Heath in Zone 4 with Waddon/West Croydon both being in Zone 5.
Mitcham's another place which could be in either Zone 3 or 4 depending on where you are in the town. I'd always thought that Eastfields station was in Zone 4, before finding out it's in Zone 3. Drawing a straight line from South Wimbledon to halfway between Norbury and Thornton Heath would put all of Mitcham in Zone 4, even Mitcham Eastfields, so it could be argued that Mitcham Eastfields could move to Zones 3/4 or Zone 4. If Norbury was to move to Zone 4, then so should Eastfields.
Drawing a straight line from South Wimbledon to halfway between Mitcham Junction and Mitcham Eastfields and then another from there to halfway between Norbury and Thornton Heath would split Mitcham town centre into two zones, with the market and most of the shops being in Zone 3, whilst Mitcham Common, Madiera Road and Cricket Green being in Zone 4.
I've always wondered whether the 270 reaches Zone 4 because I've always considered Mitcham to belong to Zone 4 rather than Zone 3, but based on this it looks like it just about reaches Zone 4.

Zone 3 used to end at New Park Road and halfway along Kings Avenue the problem of moving stations into other zones impacts on fares people have to pay in this case annual Z1-3 £1740 Z1-4 £2128 £388 more expensive

Stations like Chigwell, which is in Essex shouldn't really be in Zone 4 but it is to save people money. I don't really like the new Zone 2/3 they created in 2016, though I do feel that places like Stratford and Canning Town belong more in 2 than 3 as they look more inner London than semi outer.

It’s weird that Bromley North is in Zone 4 but Bromley South is in Zone 5. The Epping part of the Central Line being in Zone 4 when most of it’s in Essex or on the Greater London border is stupid as well. It’s all political BS.

Presumably the reason why Bromley South is in Zone 5 is due to the regular fast services to Victoria, while North is served by a branch line to Grove Park which involves a change for London Terminals.

Yes it doesn't seem fair that places in London that pay the GLA levy to fund TfL are placed in zone 5 or 6 but somewhere that doesn't and is at least as far out like Chigwell gets to be in Zone 4. I did hear something about how Essex County Council contributed to TfL to get this and up to Epping in Zone 6, but still their residents don't have the separate GLA tax. I think Norbury used to be in Zone 4 but they moved it to Zone 3. Certainly feels more like Zone 4 in terms of distance from the centre.

No that’s still silly imo. You have to have zonal borders somewhere. Are you advocating moving Bromley North to Zone 5?
