Clickbait and full of bollocks. There is no way that London Buses are going to disappear. Not everyone can/will walk or cycle which seems to be the current agenda

This really reminds me of that Samantha Brick article back in 2012 where she wrote about how she was so beautiful and how women were jealous. It obviously ruffled a few feathers and I suspect it's a similar story with this article.

I read the article on Thursday and had to agree with it in part. TfL are partly killing the buses which we have been saying here and not realising it. People are fed-up of stupid roadworks which lack common sense and an overkill of temporary traffic lights which have the worst timings in the world. They have alienated bus services by removing many bus lanes or having cycle lanes dominate. All these mini helland and LTN's has a severe impact on bus services. Then to top it off, they allowed such a massive expansion of UBER that has taken a massive chunk of bus passengers. The nightbus service as we knew pre 2016 would never come back in that way again. Even the N26 is being reduced again this weekend to a 30 min service, a far cry from around 10 years ago! I can see more services being cut in the evening as the custom just is not there. One thing though he mentions empty buses in the day, but I ride the Underground many times during the day, even before the pandemic and have been on empty carriages.

Uber is out of control there are far too many drivers on the road competing for passengers. The standard of driving is getting really dangerous where the cars are rushing to the next fare.
Can see things getting worse in the future especially if more companies come on the scene.

Personally I think the mayor should seek to raise a direct tax from any Uber drop off or pick up within a London borough. Minimum 50p per journey and like Ubers 20p per journey green fund it would probably not deter those of us who see Uber as a better option to travel with.

I think this isn't a bad shout, the extra 50p could go quite far for TfL but won't be a deterrent. The reason Uber has risen through the ranks is that it's always going to be more convenient than the night bus, it's just a case of who's willing to fork up for it. Night buses form a skeleton bus service and don't usually go near enough many people's houses compared to day routes, when coupled with the every 30min frequency Uber becomes far more enticing.

See roadworks for me have completely gone out of control - the standard of roads in London is really going down. Was in the Muswell Hill area in my car and there was a ridiculous amount of roadworks going on round by the Victoria Stakes Junction (or for those not familiar with the area the curtailment on Routes 144 W3 W7 @ Alexandra Park, Park Road) and you had tailbacks all the way up to Muswell Hill Broadway going towards the junction (the other way wasn't too bad) tailbacks down Park Road and tailbacks down Priory Road to at least Hornsey Fire Station. I dread to think if this was school kick out time as the traffic would stretch at least to Middle Lane. But going back to the topic, yes roadworks are so annoying. But TFL & local neighborhood groups don't understand the consequences of excessive tailbacks or roadworks. I mean when I was driving down there there were at least 15 or so people at the Park Road stop on Priory Road complaining - and the Alexandra Park area is known for shorter hop journeys. And the consequences are people ratrun because they simply don't want to waste their time so you even saw jams going up Cranley Gardens a fair bit. But for a lot of the planning people they are self delusional and that's there where the problems lie.

At night it depends on how good the options are for me.
For example to get home from Battersea requires three night buses which is not an attractive prospect for me so I often get Uber or refuse shifts that finish after half 12 as it is uneconomical for me to do them. But from Walworth or Morden Wharf it's one bus that takes 20 minutes so I wouldn't want to waste money on a cab.

It’s just ridiculous how limiting the night bus is parts of London. For example Morden, currently there are no onward services towards the next large town Sutton or even towards large residential areas like Lower Morden. Even a every other N155 to Sutton Town Centre would be useful if there are no plans to bring the N154. But instead the revenue is handed to Uber.

I think it's outrageous that the N154 never happened and the N213 was withdrawn from Croydon, even an hourly service would be better than nothing, but I suppose it could be argued that the 93 goes near Lower Morden.

It is down to convience as you say. I would not as to me it seems expensive, maybe I am tight. But so much people I know uses it even if they have an oyster. The fares they say is cheap and then they get discounts of from time to time. Even yesterday someone I know was prepared to take one from Ilford to Liverpool St around 6 in the evening. I was like surely it was quicker to just get on the train. He did not want to get wet in the rain, I was like seriously!!!

That Muswell HIll area is a no go zone. It is also hampered by drivers in cars using apps telling them various short cuts away from traffic.

You know what maybe it's my age but think younger people use apps to pay for everything without thinking and probably don't keep an eye on spending. Its the same with the surge in home delivery of takeaway food. My sister works for a company who offer Uber Eats and she has on occasions had delivery orders for a single pack of crisps.

That Muswell HIll area is a no go zone. It is also hampered by drivers in cars using apps telling them various short cuts away from traffic. Absolutely, I really have to lmao and crease at the planning decision by Haringey Council to add a low traffic neighborhood in the Bowes area when pre pandemic Brownlow Road would be at a stand still between the North Circular & Bounds Green Station and at the junction with Colney Hatch Lane just east of Muswell Hill. I don't know how the 102 has survived as long as it has to be honest, not to mention Temple Fortune is an absolute travesty all the way to Henlys, the traffic up High Rd E Finchley towards Muswell Hill since the cycle lane was introduced plus it battling the North Circular between Bounds Green & Edmonton. Plus you have even more irritating things such as the Henlys Corner traffic light system, you can sometimes be say waiting for up to 10 minutes because of how bad it is. I wouldn't call Muswell Hill a no go zone but I'd say traffic can be especially bad due to there being no tube station in a very high residential area + you combine it with neighbouring Crouch End & Alexandra Park. Now I look forward to the next set of ideas regarding the 102. I've already jinxed myself
