Not sure where to put this but mods feel free to move where appropriate.
It looks like again the Woolwich Ferry is not operating today due to industrial action. If Blackwall and/or Dartford crossing has issues the link is quite useful. Coupled with the introduction of the new vessels and the transition from operators at the end of last year it has been poorly run. Every other day there are either issues with the vessels or there are strikes occurring. It really needs looking at. The new Silvertown tunnel will provide some slight relief but that is 4 years away.

I’m still annoyed that the mayor chose to waste money on renewing the ferry, completely ignoring the consultation which showed a large majority of local people favoured a permanent crossing in Thamesmead or Belvedere. Absolute joke of a crossing and deprives our corner of London employment and business opportunities. The ferry closes due to strikes, bad weather, staff shortages, is not 24hr, and is often hit with a one ferry service due to faults with the brand new ferries. Traffic often tails back across the ferry roundabout, causing tailbacks and hazards for road users. Silvertown doesn’t do anything new, it’s the right solution in the wrong location. I live closer to the Woolwich ferry crossing, but always use Blackwall or Dartford if I need to get somewhere at a set time as the ferry is too unpredictable. Is it open, is it closed? Or somewhere in between? Who knows…. There’s only one Woolwich Ferry! One Woolwich Ferry! The others gone wrong So we’re queuing along Parking in a ferry wonderland

It’s a pain and I have had 3 separate occasions in the past few months when google maps / tfl shows it’s open and you drive there only to see it shut I do agree that an additional river crossing is needed between blackwall and dartford. But the location of the silver town tunnel is literally the worst one you can think of (it’s essentially a spur from the existing southbound approach so I am dreading what it’s going to be like). Needs to be further east frankly
