Hello everyone, are there any ALX400's still in service? Sadly not in London anymore, the last two departed just after the COVID-19 pandemic began. Across the country however, there are plenty still going.

Hello everyone, are there any ALX400's still in service? as the above said, not in London. However, just outside of the M25 there's still quite a few running around. I know First are still running the ex-London Tridents in the Southend area, although some have had new rear light clusters fitted.

Nice to hear they're still going, managed to ride one on the 27 down there a few years ago along with some ex TN/TNL's. First Glasgow has at least one left which I saw on my holiday up there last month, was on the 60 from memory. Southern Transit still have a number of ex London ALX400's including ex Connex TA1, a couple of ex London Central AVL's and ex Stagecoach Tridents with most branded up for Route 3 - sadly, Route 3 hasn't been in operation since the end of January due to Covid and ticket machine issues but hopefully, it does return as it's a lovely route from what I hear.

Hello everyone, are there any ALX400's still in service? There are still a few in daily service down here in Devon with Stagecoach, mostly at Torquay Garage.

Hello everyone, are there any ALX400's still in service? Most remaining are on peak hour or school workings, very few Operators using them full time anymore. Not really surprising as they haven’t been made for 15 years, so those that remain are fairly old now

Cornwall and Somerset under the First Group are set to get rid of all their tridents come the beginning of 2022 bar the open toppers (which would mean only 8 are staying) so I think even down south the era is over especially as there are only 13 regular ones (despite being somewhere where historically end of life life expired stock would end up). Though there is some fairly aged stock on the Atlantic Coasters, an ex 12 AVL is down there I believe along with a lot of B7TLs from MB/ON from First Centrewest days. I know a medley of elderly stock, including many aged tridents were acquired for the AdventuresByBus scheme (including the very aged ex B&H ELCs that used to work the 77 which you can take the roof off of and put back on)
Norwich must be another place where they are getting rid of them pretty soon.

Does Ensign still have any of the ex Arriva VLAs in service? I know they are not Tridents as such but have ALX 400 bodies.

The AVL’s were new to the 45 & 63, the 12 only used them on Sundays in place of RM’s. I believe AVL’s were also allocated to the N109 & N137 whilst operated by Q (when night routes were still operated separately to their day counterparts)

Lots of ALX400s are still running in normal service in Medway and Maidstone. Arriva operate 45 of them, 42 Volvo B7TLs, 2 DAF DB250s and 1 Dennis Trident open-top bus. I saw one of the Volvos on the 700 at Bluewater last Sunday, looked like it was in good condition and sounded fairly healthy. I don't think they'll be leaving anytime soon.
Nu-Venture, another bus operator in the area, operate roughly 10 Dennis Trident ALX400s on their services, all of them are ex Stagecoach London.

Luton still operate 5-7 W reg Tridents in daily service and not on a school route, they should be on the 24 which must use low height deckers due to a height restriction (I don’t believe it’s a low bridge but actually a low building).

If you want Alx400’s Stagecoach in Northamptonshire is probably on of the better places, over 20 still in service at Northampton and a couple more in Kettering. Nearly all of of them are out everyday and even on Sundays.

NXWM (or National Express West Midlands) have over 200 still around. They have the Transbus, Trident 2s and even the Volvo B7TL
