Country Bus (Alansway Coaches) of Heathfield, near Newton Abbot, has WX71 KKU, A Mellor-bodies Mercedes. It is seen here paused at the car park in Moretonhampstead, whilst operating the lengthy and highly scenic Devon County Council supported 178 route that runs twice daily (not Sundays) across the eastern side of Dartmoor and provides shopping opportunities in both Newton Abbot and Okehampton. Photo (not mine): flic.kr/p/2mBMoCgJust out of interest are the 178 and the Dartmoor Explorer similar-ish services?

No, they are very different and only meet at Moretonhampstead. 178 is a regular bus service running south to north and issues/accepts the Devon Day ticket. Dartmoor Explorer is a seasonal tourist route running east to west and does not issue or accept the Devon Day ticket, although ENCTS passes are valid. You can get timetables and view the routes via the interactive bus map on the Travel Devon website (Dartmoor Explorer is route DE) : www.cartogold.co.uk/Devon/map.html#devon

Sanders Coaches has taken delivery of two Wrightbus deckers SA71SAN and LL71SHA. They're badged as Volvos so not sure if they are new builds or built before the collapse of Wrightbus

There are 55 on order. The first 23 (I5000-I5022) have gone to Inchinnan Depot to convert route 26 to electric operation (as well as its route number tying in nicely with the COP26 summit title, the route passes in sight of the conference venue). The next 16 (J5022-J5037) went into Johnstone Depot for the busy 38 route (Glasgow-Johnstone) so the fleet numbers have a J prefix. <snip> The last of the McGills order - these appear to be going into Inchinnan Depot (hence I-prefix fleet numbers) for route 23 (Erskine-Glasgow) CORRECTION: the first ten are the balance of the order for route 38 at Johnstone Depot, the last 7 are for route 23 (Erskine-Glasgow) at Inchinnan Depot. Sorry for interrupting. No need to apologise - it's good to remember the past and to hear other people's stories of their involvement with buses! I bet in those days you never imagined that Inchinnan and Johnstone would be the home of state-of-the-art all-electric single deckers, or that McGills would grow to be as big as it has become.
