Northfleet-based routes 306/308 have been cancelled from 31st October 2021. A historic former Maidstone & District route between Gravesend and Sevenoaks. I wonder if Go-Coach will be operating a replacement route?

Urgh - that’s going to leave a lot of people without regular buses: I hope someone steps in to replace at least some of this route. I wonder what Arriva’s reason for withdrawing the route is?

Wow, More cuts on Arriva in Kent! it didn't sound good for people losing more transport in the Kent area. Go-Coach had ready damage the bus service with more cuts down! It was so badly and feel so sorry for people losing good bus service in Kent area.

It will be interesting to see what the outcome of this will be.
It isn’t long until the end of October, so would be awkward for an operator to start at short notice. In our current environment as well, many operators might not want to take it on when in the past they might have. Perhaps Go-Coach may take it on in some form, or maybe even Redroute or perhaps Nu-Venture (even if it is as long way from their base). It may even be the case that Kent County Council may contract the route (it is only partly subsidised in the evenings currently), and Arriva may even win it. They may prefer to operate it as a contract rather than taking commercial risk. Of course, this is all speculation!

I have heard from a driver at NF that the route will be taken over by another operator, thought to be Go Coach, but as far as I'm aware nothing has been confirmed.

Arriva have now confirmed that the 306/308 will continue to operate to the same timetable with another operator, no mention of who the operator is.

Hopefully there will be some changes to the timetable eventually though. It’s in a bizarre situation where it’s every 90mins during the day, but increases to hourly and extends to Bluewater in the late evenings.

Route 59 (5-6 daily journeys in each direction Mon-Sat) is also being withdrawn from 1st November, it'll now be operated by Nu-Venture.

I believe this is down to the daytime service being commercial and the evening service tendered, so Arriva were free to do what they wanted with the daytime frequency during the Covid period.

I've finally got around to reading the Arriva strategy article in this month's Buses and to coin a phrase, "where's the beef?". There's nothing there really, a lot of words but absolutely no substance. It felt to me as if Arriva are happy enough to deliver improvements devised or paid for by others but beyond that, it's pretty empty.

I knew Falcon were pretty ambitious, but this is very interesting. Will do a copy this post to the Surrey thread. If this divestment goes through, it will be like Berwick and Burton, sold by Arriva to local independents Perryman's (now part of West Coast Motors' Borders Buses) and Midland Classic respectively.

It's a difficult time for alot of operators, the threat of another lockdown may not encourage more passengers, lots of drivers may leave for better paid jobs elsewhere (HGV and delivery firms are begging for new drivers), increased car use, patchy bus service with ageing vehicles may cause them to stay in more profitable areas. Latest article in Buses seems to contradict the one before, so who knows?

Arriva have now confirmed that the 306/308 will continue to operate to the same timetable with another operator, no mention of who the operator is. As at today, there is still no mention of the changes to the 59 and 306/308 on the Arriva Website.
Nu-Venture does have the new 59 timetable on their website.
There is no mention of the 306/308 service after the 1st November on other website including bustimes.
Bus companies do not want to issue timetables and for the public to use the internet for everything, but they do not use their websites to inform the public of changes. There is a notice on Twitter but I, along with many others, do not use the social media sites.

It's been announced today that Redroute buses will be operating those services.
