Not specific to Arriva but the Liverpool Combined Authority has announced a consultation for a series of frequency reductions and a few route changes as the government plans to remove provincial funding in the Autumn.

Arriva staff in Yorkshire are voting on a new pay offer and are returning to work today. Meanwhile, Arriva North West are having a strike ballot, with the vote closing on Monday. EDIT: This is my post 5555 here.

EDIT: This is my post 5555 here. Your post has been renumbered 5556 (5555 withdrawn) It's kicking off everywhere, BT are threatening to strike, so engineer won't be around if the broadband dies (affecting BT, Sky, TalkTalk, Plusnet, Vodafone and everyone else using BT infrastructure)... nothing will happen as the public schoolkids politicians go on their school holidays next Friday

Arriva Yorkshire were recently on strike for nearly 4 weeks over pay. I understand that the vote on the revised pay deal is still in progress.
Arriva North West are due to go on strike from Wednesday July 20th.
Arriva the Shires are holding a strike ballot from July 13th, with voting closing on August 10th.

The answer to the subject is “they don’t care about passengers” Sorry to say the passengers do not care much about them - so drivers stand up for yourselves

The answer to the subject is “they don’t care about passengers” Sorry to say the passengers do not care much about them - so drivers stand up for yourselves I don’t think that’s totally true where I live, vast majority of passengers are polite often thanking the drivers. My comment above is not directed at drivers anyway, more the business. But then again I don’t think any major transport operator genuinely cares.

From a Liverpool perspective, the disruption today further makes the case for franchising. When Arriva provide around 70% of service in a city of its size and go on strike, chaos is caused and it's completely unfair to passengers to rely on Stagecoach's skeleton network or be completely cut off. Arriva need to be held properly accountable.

But somehow (and this is almost conspiracy theory!!) can’t help but have a sneaky feeling that not all these strikes are spontaneous / set up for the good of workers but someone behind the scenes is orchestrating things. A certain guy whose name starts with V specifically. Read the “Devil’s alternative” by Frederick Forsyth to see where I am coming from

Given that the Yorkshire strike was for around 4 weeks hopefully the Liverpool one won't be too long. I am hoping to go to the area on August Bank Holiday.
