The area around the stops is rather estate-y, so perhaps that was the reason? Haven’t used the 410 for a while now but did use it regularly for a good long time and from my own personal experience, Towpath Way was the busiest of the two stubs with the Londis located there alongside housing. Christie Drive can be quiet at times but that makes sense. The main issue with this is how many people will be inconvenienced by the longer walk that TfL admit to and will the really small time saving make enough difference that couldn’t be achieved via other means

Well the obvious question is why wasn't this done from the outset? Anyway we'll see what transpires. I'm guessing the diverts were for accessibility reasons - getting bus stops closer to people's homes and avoiding the need for some passengers to cross the road to reach bus stops. Yes that's probably a factor in it all, there's a lot of dropped kerbs and parking in front gardens and I would imagine that there will be a lot of opposition from residents to this idea.

I think the 410 could be speeded up more if it was rerouted via Lansdowne Road and Dingwall Road instead of Cherry Orchard Road and if the width restriction was removed it could go direct along Auckland Road rather than via Sylvan Road and Maberley Road which should shave a few more minutes off journey times. I don't see the point of the width restriction as over sized vehicles can just go the way the 410 does.

Running via Maberley Road allows it to serve Harris Academy so if no entrance exists from Auckland Road, the school loses its direct link

What part of Norwood Junction roughly are you at? The eastern part of the 410 is there to bring residents from the Davidson & Auckland Road areas to shops & stations at Crystal Palace, Norwood Junction & Croydon so why on earth would you take it from one shopping/station area to the next? You have the 75, 157 & 197 already performing the direct roles

Good to hear about Auckland Road hopefully having an entrance as then I'd be more open to running direct via Auckland Road myself
