From the options available it does not look like they are willing to contemplate a PVR increase, so an increase in frequency which would probably make a difference will not be on the cards, unless they squeeze the stand time and don’t extend it in service to Dagnam Park Square. Could the route be shortened in order to operate more frequently through King’s Park? Someone else will be better placed than me to do the maths on this, but on such a short route, maybe the layover at the northern end could be eliminated with the service revised to run as a circular (I know TfL frown on such things these days) and a x20 frequency introduced? It could run via Gooshays Drive, Trowbridge Road and Chippenham Road to Chatteris Avenue. That would also bring it closer to the Health Centre and Lidl. I suppose it depends on whether there is a toilet at Harold Hill station. Yes that would have been a much better way of doing things, I'm pretty sure there are toilets at Harold Wood Station although some stand space would probably be needed.

Since when did Metroline operate the 497? It's a stock photo just to represent some sort of bus. Journalists aren't particularly interested in the operator or allocation

I wonder if you could stand at the top end of St Clements Ave, or round the corner at the northbound stop in Gubbins Lane, and then turn using the triangle at the junction of the Ridgeway. All academic of course.

The worst was that the 633's photo clearly showed an Abellio London E400 MMC with the 'School Service' sign. I mentioned it's inaccuracy in the 'quality of consultation material' section of the survey. TfL should know better, even if the Romford Recorder doesn't give two hoots.

I am impressed that TfL has somehow managed to create a 36 page document out of this.
Also, if the changes are due to take place in 'summer 2022' it will have taken a year to basically liven up a dead stand working. This is not exactly agile is it?

Which is why TfL is broke, as TfL rapidly adapt their services to meet changing demand to maximise revenue:-)

Am I the only one who finds it bizarre that the Sunday service is being removed given they were openly questioning how useful the route is by launching this consultation. Getting rid of the Sunday service is hardly going to encourage travel

There is a commitment by TfL though to make the route financially viable, and the main custom for the 497 is yet to fully open in Crossrail. I want to be a negative Nancy about this but the 497 has helped the less abled and warehouse workers with their journeys. It's a shame TfL didn't go into detail as to how many vulnerable passengers would be affected by not having a Sunday service. It does sound from reading the constitution report that an extension to Upminster (likely following the 347) is something all stakeholders are interested in, including TfL.
