Hello all, this is a thread to discuss National Rail in the UK, but primarily will be London. Here’s what I’d do.
Extension of the Central Line to Ongar. Ongar will be Special Fares. North Weald will be Zone 8
Extension of Elizabeth Line to Chelmsford, with new bay platform. Ingatestone and Chelmsford are Special Fare Zones.
Extension of Greater Anglia from Chelmsford to Heybridge, calling at Boreham, Danbury, Maldon and Heybridge.
New track between Sawbridgeworth and Chelmsford, calling at Sawbridgeworth, Harlow East, Ongar (separate building from Central Line), Blackmore, Margeretting, and Chelmsford. This would link Stansted services to Chelmsford.

Nothing too radical from me but would like a daily Barking to Stratford service via Woodgrange Park. I know the C2C uses this during engineering works and late evenings.

I’d have TFL take over every National Rail metro route in London up to the M25 border towns. London Overground would be given route names and colours on the tube map rather than all being orange.
The 2tph Victoria to Bromley South via Herne Hill services that don’t continue to Orpington would be extended to Swanley.
I’d extend the District Line from Upminster to Grays on the C2C line via Ockendon, and again on the C2C line from Barking to Grays via Rainham.
I’d make the Hayes/Beckenham Junction Bakerloo Line extension happen, and also have it run from Lewisham to Bromley North.

The one I’d do is introduce a new Victoria to Croydon service but via Brixton, Herne Hill, Tulse Hill, Streatham and then rejoin the Brighton Line at Streatham Common. It could go further afield but I’m not sure where

It could go further afield but I’m not sure where I’ve always thought a Victoria Line extension from Brixton to West Croydon via Streatham would be handy.

For London UndergroundI would go as far as double track the entire section between Epping and Ongar with Central line services running up to Ongar as it should have been intended; no more cheapo poverty spec measures with 8 carriage 1992 stock. Possible extend the line from Ongar to Brentwood or Chelmsford The planned Northern Heights program on the Northern line to build Mill Hill East to Bushey via Edgware. Central line extension to Denham Waterloo & City line extension from Bank, Shoreditch High Street, Baring Street, Newington Green, Finsbury Park, used old Northern City Line track Stroud Green, Crouch End, Highgate, Cranley Gardens, Muswell Hill, Alexandra Palace For National RailMake something useful of the branch section from Romford - Upminster (London Overground) TfL rail extend from Ilford - Hainault via the line that was taken out after central line extension. London Overground, Chingford Branch extenstion to Harlow, via High Beach (as was intended) then to Epping, then Harlow fourth Avenue, then Harlow town New train line for freight and passenger trains linking East and North West London. would be double tracked and possibly utilise some of the Romford - Upminster line. Would Start at Upminster onto C2C tracks, Emerson Park, Romford, Collier Row, Chigwell Row, Loughton, Chingford, Chingford Mount, Meridian Water, Silver Street, Palmers Green, Arnos Grove, Oakleigh Park, High Barnet, Stirling Corner, Elstree & Borehamwood, Aldenham, Bushey, Watford Junction

Reroute the Thameslink Rainham service to run via Sidcup (fast to Hither Green from London Bridge) restore the semi fast services on the Woolwich line, not sure whether to run them via Lewisham or Greenwich, but having Charing Cross trains via Greenwich would be great plus it’s faster to run via Greenwich than via Lewisham. The semi fast Woolwich trains would continue to Maidstone and the Thanet coast
For the Penge East line this is what I’d like to see 1: Victoria to Sevenoaks via Orpington, not calling at West Dulwich, Sydenham Hill and Kent House 2: Victoria to Swanley, all stations 3: Blackfriars to Beckenham Junction, all stations.
EDIT: If The Thameslink had to stay on the Woolwich line then I would cut out all the minor stations so after London Bridge it would call either via Lewisham/Blackheath or via Deptford/Greenwich, then Woolwich Arsenal, Abbey Wood, Dartford, Greenhithe, Gravesend then onto Medway.

If capacity would allow it, I would reroute some SE services on that line to Clapham Junction Edit:Looking at the Carte Metro map, could WLL Overground move to P17, SLL Overground stay on P2 & SE services onto P1?

Reroute 1tph of the Waterloo to Windsor & Eton Riverside trains via Hounslow. In return, reroute 1tph of the Weybridge services via Richmond. In the peak, the 2 Weybridge services would run via Hounslow with one of the W&E Riverside services still running via Hounslow. One Aldershot to Ascot service per hour would be extended to London Waterloo via Richmond during the peaks.
Calling points: Waterloo to W&E Riverside via Hounslow: Vauxhall, Clapham Junction, Putney, Barnes, Chiswick, Kew Bridge (weekends and matchdays only), Brentford, Isleworth, Hounslow, Feltham, Ashford, Staines, Wraysbury, Sunnymeads, Datchet
Waterloo to Weybridge via Richmond: Vauxhall, Queenstown Road & Battersea, Clapham Junction, Wandsworth Town, Putney, Mortlake, Richmond, Twickenham, Whitton, Feltham, Ashford, Staines, Egham, Virginia Water, Chertsey, Addlestone
PEAK Waterloo to Aldershot via Richmond: Clapham Junction, Putney, Richmond, Twickenham, Whitton, Feltham, Staines, Egham, Virginia Water, Sunningdale, Ascot, Bagshot, Camberley, Frimley, Ash Vale

There has been a lot of talk over the past twenty years or so of running Clapham Junction to SE London/Kent service, in the early 2000s, when the Victoria-Plumstead service was still running, it was suggest that it could be diverted to Clapham Jnc, they ended up running it to Cannon Street, another plan was to run a Clapham to Dartford via Sidcup service. I think there could be room and demand for such a service but I think it would be better if they ran it toward Bromley via Herne Hill or Catford then on to Medway.

A bit fantasy, but more orbital links across North London to avoid travelling into Zones 1 and 2.
For instance a journey from Northwood to Cockfosters would require you to travel to King's Cross with 1 change or Finchley Road and Caledonian Road with 2 changes.
Central line to take over the Greenford branch of the GWR? That would look a little weird with the Central lines intersecting again at Greenford. Otherwise it could carry on to West Drayton or Slough and Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3, calling at all the GWR stations west of Ealing Broadway.
I like the idea of the Central line extending to Denham, but I'd extend it to Gerrards Cross at the least, perhaps Beaconsfield as well. (Calling at Denham, Gerrards Cross and Beaconsfield). 3tph would run beyond West Ruislip.
A Central line extension to Uxbridge has been proposed in the past and I think that could be feasible, but perhaps reducing the frequency of the Metropolitan line slightly from 8tph to 6tph and then sending those trains up the Watford branch (or Watford Junction with the Met line extension going ahead).
I would quite like to see the tube extend to places beyond the border, and I think if we were about 100 years ago, I'd extend the Metropolitan line to Slough, calling at Iver Heath and Wexham (extended from Uxbridge). But that's not possible now due to urbanisation.
