We so often complain about LED blinds on here, saying things like 'the WH E400 MMC's LED blinds are awful' or 'the number is way too large compared to the destination' or 'it's too dim' or 'it can't be seen from very far away'.
So let's praise some LED blinds instead!
I'll kick it off with the Lothian Buses E400 MMC / B5TLs. Their blinds are consistently easy to see and there is a good level of contrast with the white-on-black.

The only thing I complain about is when they are misused for advertising or slogans that have nothing to do with route and destination information. Lothian Buses at least does not appear to do that.

I'm not speaking to individual members. I agree with you re advertising.

Unpopular opinion but think all the current London LEDs are of a high enough standard to be rolled out as standard if only the cost could be justified. The current LEDs are readable and the average passenger probably hasn't even noticed the difference between these and smart blinds. Things will only get better as technology advances.
If I had a choice of money being spent on branding or LEDs I'd choices these any day the long term advantage for garage transfers and updates just makes so much sense.

I could be wrong but I'm sure Lothian actually order a slightly bigger front display than standard, hence why they look a bit better, The B9TL's they had that ensign have got all have bigger displays and we have 3 buses with them fitted, it really does make a difference and at first I thought the buses had the new high def Hannovers

Yes - I agree, and the sooner LEDs are universal on TfL, the better.

I’d rather the money be spent on ones that are the best quality rather than have one good and several decent or worse ones. The WHD’s LED’s should be the standard to achieve on all buses - the rest all have problems with spacing layout which might be fine for some on here but for people without decent enough eyesight, it can be a needless problem

Off topic for here but the Hydrogen livery is awful and hardly worth the effort.
I never said the current LEDs are perfect but if we don't move on from Smart Blinds when will we every progress!

The WHD’s I’ve seen on the 7 and the one I rode on the 245 had really impressive clear blinds, no doubt they can fail because that’s always been an issue with all blinds in general. If we are to move on from power blinds which have been a good step once their own reliability issues were solved, the WHD’s should be the way to go

Have to agree regarding the Hydrogen livery, it's completely dreadful. It doesn't seem to have much to so with Hydrogen and TfL need to stop with the weird leaf obsession, someone should probably tell them that the design of leaf they use pertains to a very popular recreational substance, pretty much everyone I've spoken with says that. I personally think the LEDs used at WH and WL look a lot better than the ones on the 7, they're a far better use of space and are a lot easier to read from a distance for this reason.

Shout out to Go North East who have adapted some of their LED blinds to say 'Via Vaccination Centre', with a picture of a syringe!
