Weren’t one of the points behind the 168 being extended from Elephant & Castle to Old Kent Road Tesco’s was to take pressure of the 168 as well as create a new link. So with the 168 gone what happened to the 172 will the 172 manage without 172? I guess TFL have analysed the data and seen that since the 168 was extended in 2005 down the OKR demand has dropped a little. On a cynical note, with the cost of living crisis Tesco could lose a few customers to the likes of Aldi and Lidl. This will reduce slightly the numbers of people going to Tesco and thus the numbers of buses needed heading there.

Aldwych - OKR Tesco doesn't seem like a link with massive demand, and the 53/453 are both hopper and walking distance from Waterloo. I think the 172 should be fine

The roads around Tesco just provided a covenient turning point.

I noticed london bus routes still isn't showing the 188 as diverting to TCR in place of the 1. I wonder if that part has been quietly forgotten and the 8 will be left to that section on its own.

Why should Tesco / sainsburys / Morrisons / Asda have all the fun

I imagine new blinds will start to be fitted at Q this week for the SL6 which will include the 1 and 188 changes. I would assume the 188 will stay on the Q set in case the route moves back (Not sure the move is 100% confirmed to MG?).

That's good to know. Not long to go now. Seems like this change has been in the making for so long now.

The fact is that they rushed through the 2022 consultation in central London taking less than a year from consultation starting to changes made, yet this one would have lasted a year longer. The most laughable one is the Sutton Croydon changes. Should have been implemented a while back

I expect the current 1 drivers to remain at MG and will work the 188 and the current 188 drivers to remain at Q and will work the restructured route 1. I expect the 1 changeovers to remain at the Old Vic and the 188 changeovers to be the previous arrangement when ran from MG, which I believe was Meal reliefs at Canada Water with some finishing duties and North Greenwich for start/finish duties.

I absolutely cannot see that happening. Granted the 188 has had a slight frequency decrease since it was last at MG, but having buses from the 188 changing drivers in either direction when both stops are back-to-back at Canada Water? It ground the bus station to a halt and I don't foresee that arrangement happening again. The only way live changeovers can happen in that area is likely Surrey Quays Station.
