I have no idea if this will be of interest to anyone, but on the off-chance that it might be, I thought I may as well post it. While idly looking through various bits of TfL documentation, I stumbled across a rather detailed document titled: "Agreement for lease of the New Bus for London". You can find it here on the TfL site:
content.tfl.gov.uk/new-bus-for-london-lease-agreement.pdfNow, an awful lot of this document is filled with dense gibberish related to contract law, but there may be a few little bits of mild interest to
someone out there.
For example, did you know how long the various parts of a New Routemaster are covered under manufacturer's warranty?
Or perhaps you'd like an extremely detailed diagram of the side advertising panels?
Attached to the lease agreement is a copy of the "New Bus for London graphics standards", which is essentially a quite tedious guide to every sticker on the bus, the size and position of every operator logo, the size and position of the fleet numbers, and every other obsessively small detail that is frequently ignored in routine fleet maintenance.
Given its anal fixation on details, it amuses me that the document not only shows the wrong bus on its cover, but inexplicably, its doors are also on the wrong side:
I'm not kidding - they get
really detailed about this stuff:
The lease agreement also includes a detailed breakdown of the standards that TfL considers acceptable when returning a bus from lease. "Soiling of the seats", apparently, is considered "not acceptable".
So... there we go. Maybe, something in there may be vaguely interesting to someone,
somewhere... but hey, if not, no worries.
