Interestingly another route has been awarded today to use LTs for a 5 year contract only on the 149, following the 248 and 159 earlier this month. I know it seems TFL have decided not to do a heavy refurb of them but does that really mean they can't do another 7 years. Conventional hybrids often only have a repaint and re upholster so not sure why the LTs are any different.

No operator does heavy refurbishments anyways… other than Abellio with their Volvos which had flooring and hand rails replaced, as well as many buses that had the National Express Interior.

So that makes my point about asking why conventional hybrids (even diesel SDs on the 470) are allowed for 7 years but not LTs.

Maybe it’s simply to start removing them from the end of each contract and by being on a 5 year contract, they can be moved on earlier

I know the RAPT LTs are being refurbished for the 148 but not sure about the Abellio examples are they being done for the 415? or the 24?

LT98 appears to have been refurbished - noticed on LVF that it was operating the 189 today having been out of service between 3rd February and 24th March, so checked the Abbey Road webcam and it has at least had a repaint.
Edit: Same applies to LT100, which was away between 18th Feb and 30th March.
Edit 2: And also LT95, away between 25th Feb and 8th April.
