It was absolutely right she should go though I'm baffled why a certain someone brought up the handling of the Sarah Everard vigil as a reason given there are lots of contradictory accounts of what actually happened that evening. It's everything else that went on in that sad situation alongside a host of other things such as partygate, the Charing Cross report, the behaviour of the two officers in the Hampstead Heath murders that has led to the police force being at their lowest ebb probably since the 70's & 80's. For once, a rare occasion that Khan has got absolutely right - ronnie plenty of evidence out there that shows Boris miscalculated the covid response on more than one occasion. Oh no I fully agree, ms D had a chequered past if I can put things mildly so probably deserves to go In all honesty and while I fully agree that in 2020 BoJo effed up in a big way (some of which is coming back to haunt him), one needs to give it to him that the response in 2021-22 was fairly spot on so can’t fault him. If we had left it to Labour we would still have been scrambling for jabs or under lockdown! If we left to Labour......well we don't actually know what Labour would of done because Labour wasn't in charge. The successful vaccination program is down to doctors, nurses and scientists who deserve lots of praise for the research and development that went on. The only time where Boris made a correct call was before Christmas where he held off introducing tough measures otherwise he has made a lot of missteps but that's been done to death on here so I'll leave it at that before you know who starts his whole propaganda campaign

Headlines could have been quite naughty for this news The Met couldn't catch Covid, they are getting lazy and overweight racing around in their 2 series and X5's, you hardly see a police presence on the streets or just walking the beat unless it's after an incident. Thing is, a fish rots from the head down, so it's going to be hard to find a successor who isn't of like mind or who hasn't been tainted by that corrupt environment she allowed to flourish.

Robert Mark managed it in the 1970s. As Commissioner of the Met. from 1972 to 1977 he took on a force in which corruption, sexism, racism and homophobia were unchallenged cultural norms and swept more than 500 corrupt officers out of the force, 50 of which were tried in a criminal court. The problem with Cressida D*ick was that she was a product of the Met. through and through and her tendency was to play down and publicly deny the problems in her beloved force. Mark was an outsider - he came from Leicestershire - and was able to have a boldness and clarity that put public protection first and take the radical action necessary to root out the corruption.

Any change in personnel seems very convenient at a time when Downing Street is under investigation... 🤔 I wonder if next time I get in any sort of bother I get sent a "questionnaire"? Already sounds like watered down action being taken. Also this time round, the Home Office alone will choose the successor, I guess that might speed up the process? Boris has a nervy wait for a week now, plenty of time to come up with more slurs solutions to the problem in time for the next PMQ's 😉 who knows, D*ck defiantly said she wouldn't leave earlier this week, then got a no confidence wake up call. Could the same befall BoJo?

Could the same befall BoJo? Well here is where BoJo is in an advantage. Any questions about Ms D*cks “dismissal” can simply be deferred to the mayor of London. There are reports bounding about that the Home Office were not aware of certain meetings between Kahn and the Commissioner. With further reports seemingly indicating that he did not discuss his lack of confidence in her with the Home Secretary. Although I’d suspect there is a bit of exaggeration to these stories. But this situation has precedence, most notably as recent as 2008/9. Regardless of opinion I think whoever comes in will struggle to overhaul the Met. Personally I would support the idea of splitting the Met into two organisations, one handing day to day policing in London lead by the Mayor and a commissioner of his choosing, with recommendations by the Home Office. The other handling the greater Met responsibilities over counter terrorism, royal family and other diplomatic protection and any other areas that would fall outside the regular day to day policing. This could operate as a national police force governed directly by the Home Office. This would allow the Met to refocus on day to day policing and in effect allowing a complete restructuring without affecting national security.

Saw a snippet of a headline on the times which got cropped at a very unfortunate place - “Sadiq Khan in row over size of Cressida D***…” Jokes apart the one comic incident I always remember is at lewisham - I go there often to pick up groceries. Always saw a police car parked there so I used to think about how dodgy the area is ….. till I realised after a few visits that the guys needed to pick up dinner from Nando’s 🤣

I guess this is never going to end. Although one thing some of the things said by the mayor at the time I was surprised he put her out to the dogs like that in public. It only allowed the press to sink their teeth into her more. I am not surprised Khan found her not up to the job, but hearing some of the stuff come to light is a bit shocking.Cressida D!ck: Sadiq Khan intimidated Met chief into quitting- reportDame Cressida D!ck "felt intimidated" into stepping down as Metropolitan Police commissioner after an ultimatum from Sadiq Khan, according to a review.www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-62766240
