Pointless, you are just asking a small subset of enthusiasts. Enthusiasts are generally traditionalists. The larger population, will not care and will want the cheapest option.

I see there are two options for LED displays. Putting aside my cynicism that this is a ploy to split the pro-LED vote and make paper blinds look like the winning option .....
What are the criteria for 'Normal' LED displays, and Fancy LED displays?

What are the criteria for 'Normal' LED displays, and Fancy LED displays? Presumably Normal are the standard 192 * 32 pixel displays whilst Fancy are the High Resolution ones

What are the criteria for 'Normal' LED displays, and Fancy LED displays? No it wasn't i.e. Normal is the ones usually used outside London and the fancy ones are now rolled out in London. I did not attempt to dilute the vote.

Are LEDs even really blinds or are they displays?

LED all the way, everywhere else has moved on from paper blinds so London should too. You need key via points as well. For example.
Welling, Sidcup Orpington 51 Station
Bromley, Catford Lewisham 208 Station
Bexleyheath, Erith Thamesmead 229 Town Centre

I like the 'fancy' LED blinds in many cases and there is plenty of potential - once all the hiccups are ironed out. They have a good display of the Johnston font.
There still is some work to do regarding the layouts - some cases it works great, saw a picture of a BYD on the 33 where it was implemented impeccably. Just needs some separation between the destination and route number.
There could be a benefit in designing all destinations which can be loaded up into the system (I'm not fully sure how they work!) when a route changes hands.
Paper blinds produce a lot of waste - with routes changing operators often you have to create inserts and a lot are ultimately dumped. Plenty of examples too where buses run blindness to operate on a route they usually don't. LEDs could overcome these problems.
I like the new layout of the blinds (qualifier in capital letters) better, but I don't like the needless squishing of destinations. E.g. Putney Heath - compare old Es to new Es on the 37, or Trafalgar Square on an older HV and a newer HV on the 29. There should be some separation but not that much. For some of the destinations which have an amount of condensing the typeface seems to lose a little bit of the nuance of the Johnston font, such as Oxford Circus or Canning Town. I prefer the numbers on the older day-glo blinds as well personally.

Should a bus not be tracking properly, the display would revert to destination and number only. After all, if we can do it down here in Torquay .... tangytango.proboards.com/post/670121

Using small route number in the examples is a bit of a cheat and would break the rules.

The display boxes are not big enough to display this amount of information with the destination and route number large enough to be legal. Scrolling information will not be accepted by TfL.

If you want it to be bigger it can be done, like it is everywhere else in the country.

It wouldn’t scroll like on the trains. It would be the same as the LED displays on the buses everywhere else.
