There's nothing in this that the Government cannot get behind, if it wants to demonstrate that "Bus Back Better" isn't only for its Red Wall areas.

It says that 10% of the fleet will be ZE this year, this has already been achieved (excluding the 39 registered but not yet entered service)

Apparently there will be a "comprehensive" review of the bus network locally to Meiridian Water, and routes will be diverted in away from the a406 - which essentially confirms the previous idea about the 34 & 444 being diverted in. Also protections of the bus garages in the area - Go-Ahead Northumberland Park & Arriva Edmonton I'd assume. Interesting to see what else is proposed, but it's being held as an exemplar.
Also looking into an express route down Old Kent Road.

10% faster journeys than 2015? That’s ambitious especially with the increasing car usage. One way this can be achieved is by cutting down on buses being regulated at bus stops.

If you put more bus priorities in you need less slack to run a reliable service so you won't have to have so much regulation. It's very ambitious but fair play. It's a great vision.

I cannot wait to see how TfL balls this one up, it’s an interesting plan but I’m sure like most TfL projects will be poorly executed. Not that I’m clairvoyant or perhaps I’m just used to all rhetoric and no action by TfL.

Unless they’re planning on increasing speed limits I’m not sure how this will happen. The main cause of the over padding of timetables is the 20mph limit (in my area at least). The 111 is a perfect example of a route that’s had running time chucked at it because of zones along the route.

Not that I’m clairvoyant or perhaps I’m just used to all rhetoric and no action by TfL. It's pretty hypocritical of an organisation to be making unnecessary cuts and then release this, much of which, has been mentioned under the two previous mayors with only a little bit of actually being half implemented if we take bus priority for example. Making cuts fuels further decline - that's an ideal place to start not sticking an express route in on a corridor that has lost capacity when instead implement priority and build capacity back up.

Can someone explain the two diagrams on pages 27 & 28 showing bus boarding - first shows bus boarding pre pandemic and the second shows it in 2041 with this plan yet in some areas, boarding decreases despite the text suggesting something completely different?

Certainly all the modeling shows that in some areas bus use is going to be lower, because of online shopping, hybrid working, e-scooters amongst other things. You can't defy gravity. The key is to ensure the bus network adapts to those changes and that it is fit for purpose in all applications across London

Not sure why it's in the latest plans now
