Apparently there will be a "comprehensive" review of the bus network locally to Meiridian Water, and routes will be diverted in away from the a406 - which essentially confirms the previous idea about the 34 & 444 being diverted in. Also protections of the bus garages in the area - Go-Ahead Northumberland Park & Arriva Edmonton I'd assume. Interesting to see what else is proposed, but it's being held as an exemplar. Also looking into an express route down Old Kent Road. It was said initially the 34 was not preferred over the high amount of links it will break if rerouted. Not sure why it's in the latest plans now Wouldn't be surprised to see an X34 though.

Not sure why it's in the latest plans now I can't see it would break that many links. However the 34 is a well-used east to west route across the Lea Valley and diverting via Meridian Water would make a lot of journeys longer.

Page 27 on the report is interesting! I know I often mention how important bus links are in east London because of the demographic and this chart goes someway to show this.

I think Elephant - Lewisham could be a good section for the route, maybe extended south east to Woolwich to support the 53 and decrease journey times for the people in SE who rely on buses

Maybe finally the 53 will be cut to somewhere like New Cross and the 453 reduced down but a new X route from maybe PD direct to Woolwich then up to Whitehall.

At least the X140 uses less congested roads and the points that are congested have bus lanes to navigate around traffic such as the approach to Northolt, Inner London doesn't work the same way

If it ever happens I'd imagine it would be in conjunction with a reduction on the 53/453, maybe an express route between Oxford Circus and Lewisham as a prelude to the Bakerloo Line extension which will probably happen eventually? Of course the 53 already has a small 'express section' over Bricklayers Arms flyover.

I need to go through this again but I can't share the general positivity around this. It seems repetitive, larded with gratuitous cycling pictures and generally short on substance while taking an awful lot of pages to do it.

An update to Bus Action plan is now published Not sure what is new, but the left hand text boxes on last few pages have lots of dates Link to document Slide 6 has some visuals of an update to the TfL Go app and a new Countdown design along with the addition of an occupancy widget for current ones. Slide 6 seems to suggest that Sutton & Bromley are getting 40 new & improved bus shelters which would make them the 2nd & 3rd boroughs to be receiving some at some point after Croydon was announced a while ago. Shame this isn't being rolled out over other areas "321 additional countdown screens installed" - bet this won't include the stops they removed countdown screens from like my local Brixton Hill stop which had one and then when the shelter was replaced, they never installed one to the new shelter but the stop before it which also had it's shelter replaced at the same time, got a new countdown screen and is less used in comparison So basically, if you don't live near an Elizabeth line station, on the 63 line of route or in one of Bromley/Sutton, you get next to no benefit from any of this unless the TfL Go App suddenly becomes useful.
