Very short notice and strange to do it on Easter Weekend IMO also going to be very confusing and alot to get your head around for older folk who are going to be looking for the bus number they have used since forever that has suddenly disappeared especially in Chelmsford where routes were changed and renumbered not that long ago I spend a lot of time in Essex and I feel like this has to be done to make the networks more sustainable and branded/ easier to use but could of been done better as in maybe one or two routes a week in a certain area over the course of a month say to give people time to get used to it and more publicity of this as haven't seen much but I also don't understand the renumbering of certain routes that haven't really changed i.e the 36 in Chelmsford to the 336 and the long journeys on routes 70 and 71 being renumbered also keeping the 42A and 42B but getting rid of the 42 ? I did read on here or somewhere a while ago about the 100 south route being double decked which probably makes sense and think the 100 Chelmsford section being renumbered makes sense as they have been two separate routes for a while now , though it is sad as I remember going Lakeside as a child on the Citysaver coaches from Aldgate and seeing the 'Premier100' N reg Darts bound for Chelmsford in the late 90's , so that link has been going a pretty long time but is now officially broken , also sad to see the 7900s go which were only recently getting refurbed with new branding , so overall too much too soon on my opinion .

I decided to ride some of the routes Saturday just gone and on just about every bus, the topic of conversation was the changes and the feedback was unanimously negative with many unhappy with the changes which is understandable given the removal of several routes that have been around for a while and others being reduced in frequency. The 100 is the big winner out of this with the Basildon to Lakeside section going double deck as you mentioned and the Basildon to Chelmsford section becoming the 300 and gaining newer single deckers all the while retaining it's 20 minute frequency. Given how popular the 70 & 71 were on that day and providing that's a regular secnario, the changes to those two routes aren't great even if the 371 is now a double deck route as a through journey from Chelmsford to Colchester on the 370 & 371 is now hourly from every half hour and there were people who were doing long distance journeys on the 71 that day other than myself

Had a read and yes, not good at all. If the system wasn't ready to be updated, maybe they should of held of the changes, which are already contentious themselves, until they were fully ready to go. I noticed a few were not even aware that the old routes have gone like the person asking about why the 5A hasn't arrived when it was withdrawn which shows the short notice announcement of the changes has predictably not had the desired affect. Thank goodness I live in TfL land despite it's own issues

They are now having a "Shuttle Launch" whatever that may be tomorrow in the towns mainly affected . A week after the changes have happened and two weeks after the changes were announced

More cuts to the new services , they still seem to be having a lot of journeys missing going by Twitter maybe some of this is down to this but doesn't look good some main services like the Basildon 9 (ex 551 in old money) having the last journey at 17:00 😮 on a weekday and the C12 in Chelmsford being cut completely . www.firstbus.co.uk/essex
