The Great Central Railway is to replace Bridge 326 over the A60 Nottingham Road in Loughborough, adjacent to the former Brush Works. This will help to secure the chord linking to the Midland Main Line (National Rail) and is an important step in uniting the GCR at Loughborough with the northern section to Ruddington. A bridge over the Midland Main Line itself is already in place.
The cost of the bridge works is £1million. The new bridge will be designed with increased headroom for road vehicles, as the current bridge only offers 4.3m and has suffered a number of bridge strikes over the years.
