Most of these ideas don't seem worthwhile - the priority in the short term should really be to improve the bus services around Watford, especially after recent cuts. With links to/from Central London, the current services work well. I never thought the Croxley Rail link had much of an advantage, as existing LNR services between Watford and Euston would still be much faster - while Croxley and West Watford still have a reasonable service from the Metropolitan Line. The proposed station at Vicarage Road seems less beneficial now, since the redevelopment around the hospital has been scaled down. For most passengers, the walk from the hospital area to Watford tube or Watford High Street is not too far, and buses are available to/from Watford Junction. The best way of improving rail services between Watford and Central London might be to divert some services into Crossrail as has been proposed (either Overground or Tring), or even into the Thameslink core using the connection at Camden Road? If the Croxley Rail Link idea is to be looked at again, I think this would work best as part of the proposed Hertfordshire Rapid Transit. In the form of a busway or tram, this could almost entirely use the alignments of former and existing branch lines, alongside running into town centres - and could incorporate the route to West Watford and Croxley: - Existing Harlow East branch (possibly with a new curve to continue to Harlow) - Disused Hertford to Welwyn branch - Disused Hatfield to St Albans branch - Abbey line - Croxley branch line (possibly continuing to Rickmansworth) - maybe another branch from St Albans to Hemel Hempstead via Harpenden (could even continue to Berkhamsted, Tring or even Aylesbury using the disused branch at Cheddington)?
