Glad I did not wait up all night for the result. Finally they announced who Croydon's first democratically elected mayor would be, then decided to perform the count on the makeup of the council in the morning ... ie now!

It makes precious little difference who's in the Town Hall. They are still squeezed by Central Government regarding budgets, they will still try to burn through the budget before financial Year End in April on some hare brained scheme (Highways will build LTNs - flower pots blocking perfectly good roads or School Zones to get money through hidden cameras, in the name of Covid or whatever the cause is this year ) whatever is left over in some budgets can get taken away for the next financial year... my Mrs is at Islington where they've had a brand refresh (I don't think it's the same Primary School who designed Haringey's logo) Bojo will still be in power, I can’t see him being pushed out just yet...

Perry getting elected was certainly one of the headline grabbers, clearly there's plenty of dissatisfaction with how Croydon has been run by Labour. Makes it all the more suspenseful awaiting the council election results... You had to laugh at the Labour campaign slogan- "Vote for a New Direction for Croydon". New direction from what? The mess YOU created?

The mess YOU created? To be honest, most of the Labour chumps were not seeking re-election. Only one on my hit list that I think is standing again is Sean Fitzsimons. Then we have Patsy Cummings ... was the most invisible useless councillor ... got deselected by South Norwood, but somehow was nominated by Crystal Palace & Upper Norwood! They can have our rubbish if they are that foolish. I expect both to get re-elected, but will have a little chuckle if either fail. The reason I think most stood down was because they wanted to be out of public service when the shite hits the fan. To be honest ... don't envy Mr Perry his job, it is a kind of poisoned chalice. Half of me wanted Labour to have to live the consequences of having to live with the mess they created, half of me wanted them nowhere near it. My sadistic and sensible sides coming out. Be interesting to see the counts come on from the various wards ... still expect Labour to have largest number of councillors. Would we be a Conservative council cause we have a Tory mayor, or a Labour council as they have the majority of councillors? Thankfully will not have to see Cllr Muhammad Ali speaking at future meetings ... so there is already a positive. In fact the only councillor that makes themselves visible in wards near me is Karen Jewitt of Thornton Heath (formerly Woodside) and hope she gets re-elected.

Shocked Lutfur Rahman got back in as mayor Of Tower Hamlets espicialy consider his previous downfall. I am shocked and absolutely disgusted. I really feel sorry for John Biggs. Lutfur should be ashamed of himself, but he knows the reasons behind him running and his corrupt agenda. The same way how all the whats app messages telling people to vote for him and bombardment of people at their houses and mosque to vote for him.

Croydon council descends into No Overall Control as the Tories pick up a few aswell as the Lib Dems appearing at the council for the first time in 20 years and the Greens being voted in for the first time. Most likely scenario is Labour just team up with the Greens and maintain control, so Croydon's political problems don't quite look solved yet.

Quite happy, no one has a freeroll to ride roughshod over the democratic process now. Parties will have to be a little more flexible than they have been in Croydon ... which can only be a better thing than what we had. Unfortunately, both of those mentioned got elected ... in wards where a goat could have been nominated to stand and win.

Astounded that TH voters have allowed this to happen again... makes you wonder if Rahman employed the same tactics to gain power as he did the last time round

The LibDems and Greens had more net gains in seats than Labour.
Even in London Labour's results were less spectacular than it first appeared. Although they won Barnet, Wandsworth and Westminster, they lost control of Croydon, Harrow and Tower Hamlets.

While Havering was always in No Overall Control, the Tories held power in partnership with the Havering Residents Association. Following a recent agreement the Tories will no longer have power there and the council will be led by a Havering Residents Association and Labour partnership.

Following a recent agreement the Tories will no longer have power there and the council will be led by a Havering Residents Association and Labour partnership. As early as a decade's time, we could see a situation where there will possibly be almost no Tory councils left with majority being held by Labour and the remainder held by Lib Dems if the current trend continues.

While Havering was always in No Overall Control, the Tories held power in partnership with the Havering Residents Association. Following a recent agreement the Tories will no longer have power there and the council will be led by a Havering Residents Association and Labour partnership. Fantastic news. The previous Tory leader of Havering council was recorded conspiring to gerrymander ward boundaries to favour the Tories by "leaning on" the council CEO, instead of following the usual process of party groups making a submission to be assessed by the commission. Clearly the area deserved better. It's interesting Labour picked up a fair few extra seats there and in other similar boroughs like Bexley and Bromley massively closed the gap with the Tories - vote share gap from 17 to 6 points in Bexley and from 20 to 10 points in Bromley. A clear sign of the changing demographics in London with people being priced further out of the inner area.
