If you are travelling by bus, particularly on Monday and Tuesday please be mindful that even with air cooling the cab of a bus can get extremely warm and the driver may need to stop the vehicle and seek a little respite for a few minutes - possibly even find a shop to buy some water. I have no doubt at all that there will be disruption to services due to drivers feeling unwell in the heat but we will all be trying our best to deliver the service I’m resting Sunday and Monday and am due to start just after 1pm on Tuesday so I’ll be going in at the hottest part of the day on what could possibly be the UK’s hottest ever day so that’s going to be pleasant. Shame I can’t work from home really 😉😉😉 On a serious note though, we are not equipped in this country and particularly in London, for heat of the expected magnitude. It sounds barmy but the guidelines being issued about staying inside, drinking plenty of water and using plenty of sunscreen if you do go out really need to be heeded. The red warning for extreme heat suggests a risk to life even for those who are fit and healthy. It’s a serious situation and needs to be treated as such. Stay safe Yes people tend to scoff at weather warnings (nanny state etc) but probably best to stay at home or at least not venture to far afield if you don't have to. Disruption on public transport is pretty much inevitable and the emergency services are going to be seriously stretched.

I do wonder if this should consider closing the central section of the underground it could be a absolute nightmare with temperatures well over 40c underground. I know its probably not practical but could be very dangerous. I'd imagine the flip side is that displacing all those people into massive crowds in the heat would result in an even worse scenario. I appreciate what you saying but hopefully more people will stay at home so the impact above level on buses shouldn’t be as bad as a Tube strike. I just think it’s potentially extremely dangerous and the emergency services are over stretched already without passengers becoming unwell from the heat. The Central Line was around 35c earlier this week.

Can see a massive flock to the parks and beaches.

I hope people are sensible but people seem to lack common sense are think for themselves instead of following the sheeps on social media.

Whilst I agree, there’s not a lot we can do about those who lack common sense. I’m planning to go out that day, just make sure I’ve enough shade and water

I got a 12hr shift on the ramp at T5 on Monday. When the weather hits the mid 20’s over the Airport it feels a lot warmer than that, if it hits 40, it’ll be unbearable! I dare say all the vehicles with Air-Con would of gone out by the time I start as well….

SWR also saying something similar, with speed restrictions likely in place. (One thing I’m not looking forward to on Tuesday is the possibility of working Class 455’s.)

No LNER trains to and from King's Cross tomorrow and Tuesday....... Been advised that the ECML will be closed on Tuesday, to prevent OHL damage and trains being evacuated. Ala when all the siemens units came to a halt following a power surge
