shocked there been no official word from yellow buses about services ending tonight on any of there social media pages or there website It's all over the local news though, the story has been unfolding for several days. As it happens there is just one day of real hiatus, as the parts of the core network that aren't already covered by More Bus will have services again from Saturday.

More Bus driver recruitment sessions will take place at The Village Hotel, Deansleigh Road, Bournemouth from 09.00 to 18.00 tomorrow (Friday 5th August). Yellow Buses drivers who are able to start work with More Bus immediately will be offered a £3,000 bonus, with the first £1,000 paid after the first week with More Bus (the normal bonus for PCV drivers is £2,000). There will also be a session on Saturday 6th August from 09.00 to 16.00.

Nope, the last Yellow Buses departed from their first stop just before 6pm today and was only announced on their social media accounts about an hour or two before they were to cease running.

All finished now, Bournemouth won't be the same without its yellow buses but obviously times change and they seem to have been in decline for a while now. Was there really any need for two operators anyway?

My one memory of Yellow Buses is riding one of their Atlantean’s back in the mid 90’s, on the 12 to Hengistbury Head in the peeing down rain! The things they made you do when part of the Boy’s Brigade!
Did always like their traditional 4 piece front blind layout.
Shame to see the company end up like this, especially so soon after celebrating their 120th birthday.

<snip> The new More Bus routes that will operate are: 1/1A 1/1B Bournemouth - Christchurch every 15 mins Bournemouth-Poole is covered by More Bus routes M1/M2 operating every 7-8 mins1B 1A Bournemouth - Somerford every 15 mins Highcliffe and New Milton are covered by More Bus routes X1/X22 Bournemouth - Castlepoint via Boscombe every 30 mins, continuing to Bournemouth as route 4 4 Bournemouth - Castlepoint via Moordown every 30 mins, continuing to Bournemouth as route 2 Routes 2 and 4 will interwork as circular services with buses changing route number at Castlepoint, this will cover the Moordown-Iford section including Royal Bournemouth Hopsital. Route 4 will no longer operate to Christchurch. More Bus route 14 operates between Royal Bournemouth Hospital, Castlepoint and Kinson.5/5A Bournemouth - Kinson via Charminster every 15 mins 6/6A Bournemouth - Bearwood every 30 mins, continuing hourly to Wimborne (6) or Kinson (6A) 737 Bournemouth - Airport (limited peak hour service) Slight corrections to the above: routes 1 and 1B operate between Bournemouth and Christchurch, the Somerford route is 1A. Route 3 is not being taken on as it is already covered by the frequent More Bus M2 service. More Bus has not mentioned taking on the three routes which are tendered by BCP (Bournemouth Christchurch Poole Council), but the MD has suggested that if this weekend's recruitment drive goes well these could be up and running again next week. The routes are: 18 Bournemouth - Broadstone 33 Bournemouth - Royal Bournemouth Hospital - Christchurch 36 Talbot View - Bournemouth - Kinson

National Express take on the coaching side on Monday, however they won’t be continuing the Golden Tours sightseeing bus service or Megabus contracts which are currently run by Yellow Coaches rather than the bus division. As a result the last day for those services will be Sunday.

Concerning that two operations have folded in one week.
I’m sure Go Ahead will put up ticket prices soon

The only way that’s now likely to happen is if Morebus decide to change their livery from the current red/blue, which on the face of it seems unlikely. I sense Yellow Buses' reputation has not been great in recent years so I agree it's unlikely Morebus would want to associate itself with the brand. I remember being on a holiday in Bournemouth/Poole at the time the Yellow Buses brand (rather than nickname) was adopted. I will always associate it with the rare Marshall bodied Leyland Olympians. Bournemouth strikes me as the sort of place that might benefit from having a single operator in the Brighton style. I couldn't see room for both. I rode one of those Marshalls at Easter 2001. I was back in the area last August. I am now pleased to have sampled their Volvo B9TL, E400-MMC and Streetlite while I could. I remember GA being dismayed in 2005 that Yellow Buses was sold to Transdev, as they were hoping to be the successful bidder and form a single integrated network like Brighton & Hove. Well, 17 years later ....

Some drivers have done quite well out of this, redundancy payment from Yellow Buses and straight into a better paid job with Morebus with a £3,000 'golden hello'.
