The increased More Bus operation requires 37 extra buses - as well as the Bournemouth University buses, vehicles have been loaned from fellow Go-Ahead South Coast subsidiaries Salisbury Reds and Bluestar (Eastleigh) and some vehicles from the reserve fleet have been reinstated temporarily. The More Bus depot in Bournemouth was rebuilt in 2019 and is able to accommodate the extra vehicles. Around 100 drivers were recruited over the two days, mostly former Yellow Buses staff although one or two came in from further afield. More Bus also worked hard to ensure up-to-date timetables and publicity were displayed at bus stops, and BCP Council also played their part in ensuring that real-time displays were also updated. Roger French has blogged about the new operation and is full of praise not only for the local management and staff team, but also for the devolved management style of Go-Ahead which makes such a response possible at a local level. busandtrainuser.com/2022/08/07/more-more-in-bournemouth/

While there have been other bus companies collapse such as GHA Coaches and municipal Halton, Yellow Buses is the first privatised bus company to collapse since National Welsh in 1992.

Some updates:
Xelabus has indeed taken on the non-National Express work of Yellow Coaches, and is retaining the trading name. Xelabus recently did similar when it took on Seaview Services on the Isle of Wight. Yellow Coaches will continue to offer private hires from the Bournemouth area, and school contracts.
Although More Bus took on the BCP supported services 18, 33 and 36 from Saturday 6th August, the Council has now awarded a temporary six-month contract to Yellow Coaches which will commence on Monday 15th August. The timetables will remain the same (as indeed they did when More Bus stepped in). More Bus has now brought forward a plan to operate open-top bus route 12 along the coastline between Hengistbury Head and Alum Chine; this had been pencilled in for next year but will now commence on Sunday 14th August and operate until the end of the Summer.
From Sunday 28th August there will be adjustments to the timetables changes for former Yellow Buses routes 1, 1a, 1b, 2, 4 and 5/5A following initial operating experience and feedback, and late departures. Two additional vehicles will be added into the cycle.
From monday 19th September there will also be changes to the established More Bus services M1 and M2. With parallel Yellow Buses services no longer operating (most notably the 3), these routes have been given extra capacity temporarily by using the new ADL Enviro400 MMCs intended for Bournemouth University services; however these will need to move on to their intended role when the University term commences in September.

More Bus had service changes from Monday 19th September, although the only former Yellow Buses service directly affected was the open-top 12 which was withdrawn following the Summer season. More Bus route 70 operates between Alum Chine and East Cliff as a partial replacement. The main change is the withdrawal of route 11 (Poole-Bearwood Estate), being replaced by diverting route X6 into the Bearwood Estate. Other routes have timetable changes and seasonal routes 30, 31, 35 and D5 are all withdrawn. In common with most other UK bus operators, Sunday timetables were operated on Monday 19th September, the day of The Queen's funeral. www.morebus.co.uk/winter-timetable-changes

More Bus has made special arrangements during the suspension of the Sandbanks Ferry. It was taken out of service from 31st October fro a refit and will be out of action for at least six weeks. During this period, the Bournemouth-Swanage route 50 is suspended and replaced by two services, X50 and 51. The X50 operates two-hourly from Studland Village to Bournemouth via Swanage, Poole Bus Station and Westbourne. Buses operate non-stop between Swanage Bus Station and Poole Bus Station, then call at Park Gates, Westbourne and then all stops to Bournemouth Square. Passengers will need to use alternative services between Bournemouth Square and the Rail Station. Route 51 operates hourly from Bournemouth Square to Sandbanks. Existing route 60 links Sandbanks and Poole Bus Station where passengers can connect to the X50 for onward travel to Swanage and Studland. Route 40 is unaffected and will continue to operate hourly between Poole and Swanage (2 hourly Sundays), calling at all stops. www.morebus.co.uk/ferry

From the ferry operator's website: "The Sandbanks Ferry Company has announced today that the ferry arrived in Falmouth on Sunday for the planned refit. Unfortunately during the tow from Poole to Falmouth the ferry suffered severe damage to the southern end prow. The exact cause is currently under investigation and findings will be released when they are available. The additional work to repair this damage will have a major impact on our completion date and will significantly delay our return to service which we anticipate will not now be until the New Year. We will update our webpage and social media as soon as we have more information. Sandbanks Ferry Company Managing Director Jason duToit commented “We apologise to all our customers for the inconvenience this will cause and share their expected frustrations. Although for legal reasons we are unable to go into any detail we can confirm that today a letter has been issued to the tug company holding them fully responsible.”"

New prow ramp sections are being constructed in Poland and these will be shipped over and installed in February, which means the Ferry should be back in service by the end of the month. The special services X50 and 51 will continue in operation until then, including over the Christmas and New Year period - the Sunday "Ferry Out" timetable will operate on Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th December, and on Monday 2nd January, whilst the Saturday "Ferry Out" timetable will apply on Wednesday 28th, Thursday 29th and Friday 30th December.
