that'll give me another place to point at QB and say to my wife "I used to work there" instead of every time we pass Queenstown Road on the SWR

Maybe because I spent my teenage and early 20s living in London, I feel it has a timeless quality. When I visit Liverpool or Leeds for example, I can tell I am visiting. However, when I am in London I literally forget I no longer live there! Sure, I do remember my address and my way home, including which train I am booked on if applicable. It's just that, even when I am going somewhere in London for the first time in years (such as my trio of bus trips this year to Hounslow, Barnet and Woolwich after a gap averaging 7 years) it still feels like home turf. There is just the novelty of quite different buses from my previous visits!
