A minor irritation yesterday was that my train took a bit longer to arrive at Notting Hill Gate than the notice on the platform indicated. It was heading for West Ruislip.
Then an Ealing Broadway train pulled into the other platform at White City. We were told that we were waiting due to a red signal, but the Ealing train overtook us without them suggesting that train would depart before ours.
On the way back, at least they were honest that the eastbound train in the opposite platform would depart before ours. Admittedly, as I had more luggage I found it simpler to stay put. For my onward connection to Euston I trialled a change at Tottenham Court Road instead of Oxford Circus. It proved brilliant because the entrance at East Acton takes you to the front carriage of eastbound trains. This minimised the walk through the tunnel at TCR, lands you at the front of the northbound trains, itself minimising the walk through the tunnels at Euston!

Very rare do either the driver or station staff announce what train will be leaving first out of Leytonstone in the London-bound direction.
