Buckingham Palace has now confirmed an extended period of mourning due to last for seven days after the funeral. It’s a slight break from protocol but given her longevity as our monarch it is well deserved.

Bus stops across London pay tribute to the Queen
A portrait of the Queen is being featured on bus stops across London as the nation begins to mourn her passing.

One happy memory for me is the recent Paddington Bear film she did for the Jubilee it captured her sense of humour brilliantly. I am surprised there are not more film / documentaries of the Queen being shown instead of the rolling news which is a little repetitive. There was on channel 5 yesterday evening as few documentaries

Both BCE47070 and LT70 are off the road . Wonder if some special services will be put on to get people into Central London during the coming days Seems that all the Jubilee liveried vehicles haven't gone into service today after their duties yesterday finished Probably the right thing to keep them off the road, at least during the period of official mourning. Maybe keep the livery but change the wording to commemorate her long reign before they re-enter service. I hope BCE 47070 keeps its ER70 LXX registration for life as a tribute to The Queen. There will be a Coronation next year, or possibly in early 2024. Maybe the same buses will gain a special livery for that, it would be a good way of marking the change and moving on.

Given King Charles’s long held ambitions to strip back the monarchy we could see a pared back coronation with the focus on the nation. Perhaps long term we may also see Buckingham Palace returned to the nation and the national trust as I believe this was also a long held ambition of his.

May she rest in eternal peace. Agree with those on here who said she was the greatest monarch we have ever had and ever will have. Has any monarch been more loved and respected throughout the world? What a wonderful servant to this country, right through to her very last days. If you have relatives of that age, you will know what a special generation they are. Our world will be a lot poorer without their wisdom and lived experiences.
God save The Queen.

Perhaps the thread title could be renamed 'RIP Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II' or something like that?

Interestingly NMCC has referred to the Elizabeth Line as the Queen Elizabeth Line this afternoon. Perhaps TfL are already planning a soft rebrand to fully honour our late Queen.

It's a really sad day for our country (and the world) but I think what really made it tough for her was losing her husband. What a formidable Queen, we all have so much respect for her It's a really sad day for our country (and the world) but I think what really made it tough for her was losing her husband. What a formidable Queen, we all have so much respect for her I said once Phillip died, I wouldn't be a surprised if she went within the next year, sadly it was more or less the case. I firmly believe that she died of a broken heart. RIP you majesty. Back in the arms of your loving husband. Thank you for all your service.

The jubilee felt poignant and sad at the end.

Must say day feels very surreal. You can feel a real change in tone and general atmosphere, I have never felt anything like it. I think the dark clouds and rain we have had since yesterday make things feel even sadder.

Would imagine it comes down to how you view it. Life in Central London today apart from the area around the Palace was pretty much business as usual. There are a few weirdos around though, there is a video flying around of someone playing Last Last at one of the memorials on a loud speaker and I'm sure we've all seen the video of the guy and that car crash interview yesterday.
